Ronan Keating: “Why has it taken so long to get you on The Voice?”

Kate Miller-Heidke: “I thought I’d seen it all last year, but, I mean, holy crap, that was on another level.”

Melanie C: “That was all kinds of awesome. Oh, my goodness. I’m kind of speechless.”

Gemma Hollingsworth, 19, Melbourne VIC – Grew up playing sports. Wanted to be a professional AFL player but her dream was cut short due to a knee injury. Melanie tells her she tore her ACL too and that she has a new knee. When Gemma introduces the coaches to her twin sister who competed in 800-m race in Paris Olympics, Ronan says he used to run 200 and 800m as well and that he was the under-13 Irish champion in the 200m.

Song: Prada by Raye

Coaches comments:

Melanie C: “I absolutely love that. I love the drama. You know, you brought so much to that performance. You obviously have good technique.”

Ronan: “There was a lot of technical stuff. I know you were trying to impress and hit notes, and that’s what you’re supposed to do here. You’ve got a minute and a half to shine. And you did it.”

Kate: “I can hear this kernel of pure talent that is very exciting to me.”

Hunter Black, 21, Sydney NSW – started as lifeguard at age 5, as nippers. He grew up playing pian.

Coaches comments:

Richard: “I really loved the confidence in your voice, so I felt like, okay, that’s somebody who is going to step up to the plate with whatever song I might suggest.”

Melanie: “I really enjoyed that performance. I love the rasp in your voice. And you could hear that confidence. And I think when the artist is confident, you know, you kind of relax and you can really enjoy it too.”

Ronan: “You’ve got individuality. You’re unique. When you turn on the radio, you’re going to know that’s Jimmy, and I’m going to make that happen.”

Kate: “That cover version to me sounds like a radio single. Sounds like a hit.”
