Recap | MKR on Channel 7 S15E23 – “Full of flavour, heart and personality”. Confidence, execution and technique shine as Maria and Bailey earn Grand Final spot
Boss friends Maria and Bailey clinched victory in tonight’s MKR semi-final, setting up an epic Grand Final battle against footy dads Justin and Will from 7.00pm Sunday, 16 November onSeven and 7plus.
Maria and Bailey triumphed after the tense and emotional semi-final against Lol and Lil.
From the start, both teams made it clear they were here to win. “We didn’t come here to come fourth or third, we came here to be in the Grand Final,” said Lol, while Bailey confidently stated: “We’ve already mentally sent them home.”
“With everything Bailey and I do, we do 100%,” Maria said. “We believed from day one in our abilities and in our cooking skills.”
That confidence carried through the cooking, as Maria and Bailey’s menu of Truffle and Porcini Tagliatelle with Wild Mushroom Sauce and a dessert of Duck Egg Crème Caramel with Vanilla Tuile excelled.
Maria and Bailey’s teamwork shone, while Lol and Lil seemed out of their comfort zone with their menu of Sous Vide Lobster with Lobster Hollandaise, Pickled Fennel Salad and Berry Panna Cotta and Vanilla Crème.

Colin called Maria and Bailey’s pasta “one of the best mains you’ve cooked for me”. He added the dish was “full of flavour, heart and personality”.
Manu said: “We did ask for simple, but they showed amazing technique. The flavour of the pasta alone was amazing.”
Colin admitted Lol and Lil’s lobster was “a very tasty plate of food”, while Manu noted: “Yes, the lobster tail is inconsistent, but the combos go well together.”
After the main course, Manu and Colin announced that Maria and Bailey were ahead, as desserts became the decider.
Maria and Bailey’s Crème Caramel was elegant but risky, with the duck egg adding richness. Colin said: “It was rich. That duck egg really shone for me. Every element was on that plate for a reason.”
Lol and Lil’s dual dessert impressed with its ambition. Manu declared: “I have never seen it, I will probably never see it again, but it kind of worked. That pastry was a 10/10 just alone.”
Ahead of the result, Maria confessed: “I don’t think I’ve ever felt so nervous in my life.”
In the end, Colin admitted: “There is no doubt that this one is close.” Manu delivered the final verdict that Maria and Bailey were advancing to the Grand Final
Maria was overwhelmed: “Oh my God, we did it. To make it this far. Wow.”
Emotional, Lol and Lil hung up their MKR aprons. “I’m very, very proud of what we have achieved,” said Lil. “We’ve learnt so much along the way.”
Lol, in tears, added, “I love you Lil. I think we couldn’t have gone on this journey without each other. I’m proud of us for holding our own, never failing, never giving up, never giving in.”
