Australian Idol on Channel 7 – Meet your Grand Finalists. Amy, Denvah and Dylan one step closer to Australian Idol dream.

Tonight, Australia chose 23-year-old Denvah Baker-Moller from Rockingham, 24-year-old Amy Reeves from Broome, and 30-year-old Dylan Wright from the Northern Rivers as their Australian Idol Grand Finalists live on Channel Seven and 7plus.

The Top 6 opened the show with an inspiring performance of Giant by Calvin Harris and Rag’n’Bone man, before hosts Ricki-Lee and Scott Tweedie announced each contestant would perform again solo. Then, it was time to say goodbye to three incredibly talented performers.

Judges Kyle Sandilands, Marcia Hines and Amy Shark recognised how difficult it was to say goodbye, as Australian Idol farewelled 22-year-old Trent Richardson from Emu Park, Queensland; 20-year-old Ivana Ilic from Melbourne; and 23-year-old Isaac McCallum from Ulladulla, NSW.

On departing the competition, Ivana admitted: “Obviously, you want to go all the way but that’s not what this is all about. I’ve gone out there and showed Australia who I am and who I want to be as an artist.”

Amy said: “You are such a powerhouse I’m so excited for your career. Everyone watching you is so aware of how incredible you are.”

Issac thanked the judges for believing in him. “It is what it is, at the end of the day. I am grateful to make the Top 6 who would have ever thought!”

Kyle said: “You’re the one I’m most proud of… you’re the one I was most worried about, you stood up and you have shined.”

Trent said: “Idol was my first-time singing, with a crowd, on stage. I’ve loved every minute of it, I feel at home. I can promise this won’t be the last time on this stage.”

Marcia said: “There is something really special about you, you’re a beautiful young man.”

Denvah acknowledged making the Grand Finale was a bittersweet moment: “I always take so long to process; my heart just went with Ivana then. I’m so excited Australia. Thank you. I went on this thinking I’m just a country singer, but maybe I’m the country singer not just a country singer anymore!”

Denvah put her unique country spin on a moving rendition of Tina Turner’s classic Simply The Best, as Marcia reflected on Denvah’s first audition and praised her “for staying true to who she is.”

Amy cemented her Grand Finale spot after a “elegant” rendition of Gravity by Sara Bareilles.

Emotional, Amy said: “I have no words other than thank you Australia, I’m shaking like a leaf right now.”

Amy Shark said: “You really could go all the way.”  Marcia admitted: “I adore listening to you.”

Dylan called his Idol Grand Finale berth “unexpected” before praising his fellow contestants who have become close friends.

After his performance of Ordinary People by John Legend, Amy declared: “I think there is no stopping you now.”

Kyle shared: “We love you every single week. You’ve made me cry twice!”

The winner of Australian Idol will receive a recording contract with industry giant Sony Music Entertainment Australia and $100,000 in prize money.

Sunday 7.00pm and Monday 7.30pm: Australian Idol’s massive Grand Finale week will see the Top 3 perform, plus the biggest names in Aussie music, including Idol legend Guy Sebastian and music superstar Sam Fisher, the iconic Delta Goodrem, country-megastar Morgan Evans, ARIA-Award winner Conrad Sewell and Australian Idol queen Marcia Hines.

Meet the Australian Idol Grand Finalists Amy, Dylan and Denvah at Westfield Hurstville this Thursday, 21 March from 5.30pm. Event details here.

Idol is calling. Australian Idol returns Monday, 29 January. This is where stars are made: welcome to Australian Idol!

Twenty-one years after Guy Sebastian pipped Shannon Noll to become Australia’s first Idol, the international star-making sensation returns to Seven and 7 and 7plus for a second big season on Monday, 29 January.

Radio king Kyle Sandilands and TV WEEK Logie Award winner and acclaimed singer Amy Shark will be joined by a new judge: Australian Idol OG and pop legend Marcia Hines. The trio will traverse the country to find the next Guy, Casey or Royston.

Set to be the toughest season yet, with only room for the best of the best, the judges are looking for the complete package: a singer with the sound and style to woo the nation.

Excited to be unearthing Australia’s next singing superstar, Marcia is looking for a strong, pure and melodic voice “that makes the hairs on your body stand up,” regardless of the genre.

The celebrated singer is also looking forward to re-joining Kyle and Amy on the judges’ desk following her guest judging role on the series last year.

“I consider Kyle a good friend and Amy is one-in-a-million and a real individual, without trying to be. Also, Kyle’s a Gemini, Amy’s a Taurus, and I’m the Cancerian in the mix and those three star signs get along very nicely.”

Returning to the Idol judges’ desk for his sixth season, Kyle admits there’s no definitive formula for the ultimate performer, but they have a presence and energy that’s hard to ignore: “The ultimate performer is someone that you admire for their talent, and they’ve got a little swagger or a pizzazz about them that just makes them stand out from the crowd.”

Amy added:

“I’m usually blown away if someone can potentially showcase their personality, voice, style and direction in the space of 10 minutes and leave me wanting more. If I want to learn more about you, I’m interested.”

During their audition, contestants will be on the hunt to score a Golden Ticket to progress to the next round, but with just 30 Golden Tickets across the whole auditions, only the most talented performers will claim their coveted spot in the Top 30.

A global success since 2001, the Idol franchise has launched the celebrated careers of Aussie hitmakers including Guy Sebastian, Jessica Mauboy, Matt Corby, Ricki-Lee, Anthony Callea, Stan Walker, Casey Donovan and Courtney Act.

International music icons Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Adam Lambert also launched their brilliant careers on the Idol stage.

Australian Idol is hosted by multiplatinum-selling, ARIA Award nominated singer-songwriter Ricki-Lee – who was discovered on Australian Idol in 2004 – and internationally renowned entertainment presenter and former E! host Scott Tweedie.
