The massive numbers come ahead of Saturday’s unmissable 2023 AFL Grand Final at the MCG and the Brownlow Medal tonight – both live, free and exclusive on Seven.

Saturday afternoon’s Preliminary Final between the Brisbane Lions and Carlton at The Gabba was watched by 1.4 million broadcast viewers nationally as the Lions broke Carlton hearts and roared into the 2023 AFL Grand Final.
The Lions’ 16 point victory over the Blues dominated its timeslot in all people, 25 to 54s and 16 to 39s.
The match was the #1 program of the week in all people and 25 to 54s and scored the biggest AFL national audience this year.
The average audience was up 172% on the 2023 regular season Saturday average audience and the game reached 3.33 million people nationally.
Brisbane’s audience soared 519% on the 2023 season to-date Saturday match average audience, Melbourne’s audience was up 181%, Sydney up 148%, Perth up 125% and Adelaide up 77%.
Friday night’s high-stakes clash between Collingwood and the GWS GIANTS scored an average of 1.36 million viewers. It was up 126% on the 2023 season to-date average Friday night average, up 400% in Sydney, up 155% in Brisbane, up 120% in Melbourne, up 106% in Perth and up 75% in Adelaide.
Seven was #1 in prime time on Friday night with a dominant 54.7% commercial audience share nationally in all people, 52.8% in 25 to 54s and 56.9% in 16 to 39s.
Seven’s coverage of Collingwood’s win over the GWS GIANTS at the MCG was #1 in its timeslot in total people, 25 to 54s and 16 to 39s and reached 3.48 million people.
7’s AFL Finals coverage captured 71% of the overall AFL broadcast TV audience across the two games, including 72% of all viewers in regional Australia.
Seven’s AFL coverage helped power Seven to a dominant weekly win across the week ending 17 September, with an unrivalled 44.5% commercial share across all people nationally – marking Seven’s 11th week in a row as the most-watched network.
