STORYLINE RUNDOWN: EPISODE 42
JOHANNA + CHARLIE – AMAZING ALASKA EP 2
After getting up close with majestic whales and being awed by ancient glaciers last week, our intrepid landlubbers Johanna and Charlie continue their cruise of a lifetime. This week they’re stopping at the historic port of Skagway, where a tour of this gold rush era settlement reveals a beautifully preserved town that doesn’t look a lot different from 1896 when tens of thousands of prospectors tried to make their fortunes. A visit to the region wouldn’t be complete without taking a ride on the equally historic railway into the imposing nearby mountains. As the cruise ship heads back south down Alaska’s Inside Passage, Johanna discovers all the culinary delights and entertainment the ship has to offer. Meanwhile, Charlie takes a day trip to the town of Ketchikan to take in the rich native culture, try his hand at lumberjacking and finish this amazing adventure by observing some black bears as they feed on migrating salmon.

Light, colourful, and very moreish. Ed’s lime crepes with summer fruit and coconut are just about the ideal summer dessert. Best of all, you can make the batter a day ahead and keep it in the fridge. Or make a large batch of crepes because they freeze perfectly.
