Fred Media/Radar launches largest-ever new content slate, works with new Aussie producers – Newly integrated Fred Media/Radar is delighted to announce that it has a slate of more than 400 hours of new content launching at MIPCOM in France this month. The content covers popular genres such as reality, factual, food, travel, home and design, animals and kids – and features programming from nine new producer partners as well as several established collaborators and parent company WTFN.

Leading the new slate is Colin & Justin: Sub Zero Reno (6×60’), a Far Point Films and WTFN co-production for Paramount+. The series follows the dynamic design duo as they take on their most ambitious project yet, transforming a derelict house into a dream tourist retreat in the middle of a brutal Canadian winter. Braving ice storms and temperatures so low that it hurts, even they admit that they’re crazy to have taken on this major 10-week renovation.

North Light Productions’ Budget Battlers (4×60’) for Nine Network is a fabulous new makeover show that rallies communities to help renovate the entire homes of deserving people – all within a week and on a tight budget. It’s packed with tips, inspiration, drama and plenty of emotional stories.

Shark Town (1×60’), from Rockpool Media, travels to Gansbaai in South Africa, known for having the world’s densest population of great white sharks. But as the sharks start to disappear, the town faces a crisis. Featuring leading shark experts such as Dr Alison Towner and shark broadcaster Richard Pearce, this gripping film tracks the town’s journey from disaster to revival and meets its unexpected saviours.

New from WildBear Entertainment and Bursty Company is RUNN – The Nedd Brockmann Documentary (1×60’), following a quintessential Aussie bloke as he embarks on a daring and unprecedented mission: a remarkable solo run spanning the vast continent of Australia.

The Big Break (1×60’), produced by Broken Yellow for Nine Network, captures all the challenges and relentless pursuit for glory of the Australian breakdancing team – including the global headline-grabber ‘Raygun’ – as the street art makes its debut at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Big Little Footprints (10×30’), produced by Edge & Elegance Entertainment, is a travel show with a difference. Emmy-winning TV host Amber Wyatt and stuntman husband Karl embark on awe–inspiring trips across the globe with their two hilarious young boys, seeking to educate their children about the profound impact of travel through bold adventures and heartwarming experiences.

There are two titles from new partner AFN Fishing and Outdoors. Charter Boat Wars (12×30’: 2 seasons) tracks the intense competition for the annual Mercury Tuna Cup, which charter boat skippers in Victoria, Australia, compete for, aiming to catch the most centimetres of tuna over a weekend.

The Fishing Show (64×60’: 5 seasons), meanwhile, sees fishing experts and special guests travel across Australia and around its islands for some sensational fishing action and unique challenges – all set against a backdrop of breathtaking scenery.

How to Thrive (1×96’) is an intimate, heartfelt, and helpful documentary that taps into the current interest in mental health issues. Produced initially for theatrical release by final new partner Beyond Edge, it features psychotherapist Marie McLeod helping a group of volunteers with interventions grounded in positive psychology, neuroscience, and wellbeing science.

As previously announced, Seven Network is also a new partner for 2024, with Fred Media/Radar having recently acquired 12 new titles and 150+ hours for launch on the slate at MIPCOM.

Advancing Australia with Guy Pearce (12×30’), produced by existing producer partner Bengar Films for Network Ten, sees the Hollywood star help explore the stories and people behind some of Australia’s most useful recent innovations.

Returning unscripted series on the new slate include Space Invaders S5 (8×60’), Paramedics S6 (10×60’) and Bondi Vet 14 (8×60’) – all produced by WTFN, along with Median Green’s Planet Shapers S2 (2×30’), Resto Group International’s Resto My Ride S2 (8×60’) and New Mac’s Never Too Small S3 (12×30’).

New Kids’ Shows

Fred Media/Radar is also thrilled to introduce three new kids’ series to the market at this time. Tales of Aluna (26×12’) is an animated series for Seven Network from new producer partner Three’s A Company. Aluna, half-spirit and half-human, inhabits a mysterious and magical floating island sanctuary – a remnant of the legendary Atlantis – that she has sworn to protect.

The series follows what happens when some humans crash land on the island and threaten its harmony. And there are two new live-action shows from Nine Network. The Actually Really Very Difficult Show (200×30’: 2 seasons) is a hilarious gameshow unlike any other…because the correct answer may not win you any points. It features young presenters scurrying around, scrounging and scraping for points in quiz-based and physical challenges. Finally, Earth Science Investigators (50×30’) follows the antics of two amateur detectives from an alien planet who have come to Earth to investigate the human race. Comedic investigations in each episode focus on a different aspect of human behaviour or biology.

Roger Vanderspikken, Head of Operations & Acquisitions at Fred Media/Radar, says:

“This is a busy and exciting period for Fred Media/Radar, and we are delighted that so many new producer partners can see the opportunities and benefits of working with our team and reinvigorated business. It is a real honour to represent so many incredible new titles in the international marketplace at this time, and we remain especially proud to offer buyers so much uniquely Australian content.”
