It’s not just the home here that’s one-of-a-kind… the gardens are so stunning, Melissa couldn’t resist dropping by to check them out! She’s joining Johanna for a look around this stunning modern country-style garden, which was designed around a largely native plant palette. Native gardens don’t only look great, they support local wildlife, are more environmentally conscious and easier to care for, too. If you love the look, Melissa’s showing you how to recreate it at your place on a smaller scale. She’s mixing native and subtropical plants to create a potted garden which makes the perfect welcoming entry to your home – or your patio, courtyard, or balcony, too.

JOHANNA – THE MATER HOSPITAL, BRISBANE

Anyone who’s expecting a baby hopes their child will be born happy and healthy. But for many parents, that’s sadly not the case. In Brisbane, over 1700 seriously ill or very premature babies end up going through the doors of the Mater Neonatal Critical Care Unit each year. What they do here is absolutely groundbreaking and Johanna’s meeting up with the Director of Neonatology, Dr Pita Birch, to find out more.

CLARISSA – THE FALLS FARM WALKAROUND

A 10-minute drive from Montville, you’ll find the sleepy rural town of Mapleton…which just happens to be home to Queensland’s best produce. The Falls Farm is a family- owned business, run by Ben Johnston & Jess Huddart since 2013. On the 12-hectare property, they’ve established a market garden that specialises in seasonal and nutrient-dense fruit and veggies. By focussing on the health of their soil, they’ve been able to grow unique varieties of veg that are a cut about the rest…and Clarissa’s stopping by for a taste test.

CLARISSA + JOH – MEDITERRANEAN EGGPLANT & HALLOUMI SALAD

Now that Clarissa has stocked up on yummy farm-fresh produce, she needs a recipe that’ll really make those veggies shine. So she’s whisking us off to the Mediterranean with a fresh, healthy and flavour-packed salad. Made with grilled baby eggplant & halloumi, plus loads of fresh veggies, basil, pomegranate and a delicious za’atar dressing, this salad is fancy enough to serve to guests and substantial enough to be a main meal.

MELISSA – THE BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDS OF MONTVILLE

Perched high in the lush Sunshine Coast hinterland, Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World is a sprawling garden paradise set across 110 acres. With the majestic Glass House Mountains as its backdrop, the gardens here are world-class, and you’ll find everything from delicate orchids to some of the rarest cycads on the planet. But the magic doesn’t stop at the flora…over 600 native and exotic birds also call this place home and the massive walk-through aviaries here are an experience in themselves. Melissa’s sharing her favourite parts of this pristine rainforest paradise and introducing us to a few of its residents.
