Ahead of his record-breaking match on Saturday May 23, 7NEWS will bring viewers into the inner sanctum with unrivalled access to Collingwood great Scott Pendlebury as he prepares to mark his incredible milestone of 433 games – the most of any AFL footballer.
With two exclusive specials set to air this week on Seven and, 7plus , the footy legend and 7AFL expert commentator is giving unprecedented access to Seven’s cameras.
In a 7NEWS Melbourne special report to air tonight at 6.00pm, Mike Amor sits down with Pendlebury and his wife Alex, one of footy’s highest-profile couples, for a candid conversation at home.
The couple opens up to Amor about how they handle the intense public attention that comes with life in the spotlight and manage the constant scrutiny, offering an insight into what life at home is really like and where their priorities life beyond football as they raise their two young children.
Then on Saturday, May 23 at 8.00pm, 7NEWS will present a special half hour program, The Record Breaker, live from the MCG.
Hosted by 7NEWS Chief Sports Presenter Rebecca Maddern, with interviews and commentary from 7NEWS Chief Footballer Reporter Mitch Cleary and Sport Reporter Xander McGuire, Seven’s cameras will follow all the action of his career-defining game.
Going behind-the-scenes to capture Pendles’ emotions both pre and post-match, the 30-minute special will feature match highlights and unforgettable moments from his extraordinary career.
Viewers can also tune into an exclusive behind-the-scenes feature with Pendlebury from the Round 9 match where he equalled the all-time VFL/AFL games record, taking fans through his full match-day routine from a 6.30am start, to running out onto the MCG against Geelong.
Shot by Collingwood FC for Seven’s coverage, the feature provides a rare insight into how Pendlebury prepares his body and mind during his 21st AFL season and is now streaming on demand on 7plus.
