FIBA Men’s Basketball Cup 2023 on ESPN has Boomers in must win showdown

FIBA Men’s Basketball Cup 2023 on ESPN – Australia will fight for their FIBA Men’s World Cup 2023 medal dreams as the second round action gets underway live and exclusive on ESPN, beginning Friday September 1.

The Boomers face tough second round clashes with European heavyweights Slovenia and Georgia, as they look to book a place in the last eight of the FIBA Men’s World Cup 2023.

Australia finished in second place in Pool E, taking wins over Finland and Japan, but falling to eventual pool winners Germany.

It means the Boomers are up against it, fighting for progression to the Quarter Final stage of the FIBA Men’s World Cup 2023.

Australia will meet Slovenia in their first match in the second round, live on ESPN on Friday September 1 at 10.10pm AEST.

Slovenia remain a force of international basketball and will be led by NBA superstar Luka Doncic. The European powerhouse completed a clean sweep of their matches in Pool F, downing Venezuela, Georgia and Cape Verde.

Sunday September 3 will see Australia tackle Georgia, also live on ESPN at 5.30pm AEST.

As respective group winners, Germany and Slovenia will be in the box seat to progress, with teams carrying their points forward from the pool stage. This effectively means the Boomers will need to win both matches against Slovenia and Georgia to have any chance of progressing in the tournament.

World Cup Live will provide ESPN viewers will extensive pre-game and post-game coverage of the Boomers second round games. ESPN’s star FIBA World Cup team of Neroli Meadows, Trevor Gleeson, Kane Pitman, Bec Allen, Olgun Uluc and John Casey bring in-depth analysis and will have every angle covered.

The second round also presents bumper clashes involving tournament favourites United States.

Team USA face a difficult test against Montenegro at 6.25pm AEST Friday on ESPN2, before meeting Lithuania live at 10.25pm AEST, also on ESPN2.
