Sense and Sensibility stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles headed to Sydney – Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles will bring Universal Pictures’ new Sense and Sensibility adaptation to Australia after the film’s London world premiere.
The stars will arrive in Sydney later this month to promote the Jane Austen adaptation, with the Australian premiere scheduled for Thursday 1 October ahead of the film’s nationwide cinema release on 15 October. The visit gives Australian audiences an early spotlight on one of the year’s major literary adaptations before it opens widely.
London premiere precedes Sydney visit
The new film has already celebrated its world premiere in London, where Edgar-Jones and Creed-Miles appeared with co-star George MacKay. The Sydney event will follow just over two weeks later.
Edgar-Jones has also recorded a special video message for Australian fans, inviting audiences to see the romance on the big screen.
A new take on Jane Austen
From Focus Features and Working Title, Sense and Sensibility revisits Austen’s story of love, sisterhood and financial uncertainty through the Dashwood family. Following Mr Dashwood’s death, Mrs Dashwood and her three unmarried daughters lose Norland Park to the closest male relative and relocate to modest Barton Cottage.
Eldest daughter Elinor has feelings for the stoic Edward Ferrars, while Marianne falls for the dashing John Willoughby. As the sisters navigate love, loss and societal expectations, Elinor also worries that Marianne overlooks Colonel Brandon, who is devoted to her.
Edgar-Jones and Creed-Miles lead the cast with Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, Herbert Nordrum, George MacKay and Fiona Shaw. Diana Reid adapted the film from Austen’s novel, Georgia Oakley directs, and Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, India Flint and Jo Wallett produce.
