MOVIE | Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy available to buy and rent from 1 April – Get ready for more heartfelt laughs, love and awkward shenanigans as two-time Academy Award® winner Renée Zellweger returns to the universally beloved role that established a romantic-comedy heroine for the ages, Bridget Jones.

Bridget, now a widowed single mother, who must juggle the tribulations of work, parenthood and romance while embracing new beginnings.Continuing to delight audiences in cinemas, BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY debuts on exclusively digital platforms to buy or rent on April 1st, 2025, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

The “charming and crackingly funny” (The Australian) film also includes all-new, exclusive bonus content not seen in cinemas when you purchase from Apple TV. Bridget fans will enjoy hilarious deleted scenes and exclusive features with cast and crew interviews, that dive deeper into the story behind bringing Bridget back to life while exploring the complexities of her modern character.

In the newest chapter, Bridget is alone once again, widowed four years ago, when Mark Darcy (Colin Firth) was killed on a humanitarian mission in the Sudan. She’s now a single mother to nine-year-old Billy and four-year-old Mabel, and is stuck in a state of emotional limbo, raising her children with help from her friends and even her former lover, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant).

With the help of her loyal friends, Bridget navigates encounters with a younger man—and a series of awkward interactions with her son’s science teacher—as she strives to forge a new path toward life and love.

Based on the novel by BAFTA nomineeHelen Fielding and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Michael Morris (Better Call Saul, Shameless), BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY is the eagerly awaited next instalment in the cinematic franchise, giving audiences a look at Bridget’s life as she grapples imperfectly with single parenthood, loss, and re-entering the dating world. Starring two-time Academy Award® and Oscar® winner Renée Zellweger (Cinderella Man, Judy), Emmy nominee® Hugh Grant (Love Actually), Oscar® nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Leo Woodall (The White Lotus) and Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility), Oscar® winner Jim Broadbent (The Iron Lady), Gemma Jones (“The Crown”, Sense and Sensibility), and Isla Fisher (Confessions of a Shopaholic).

BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY, a Working Title Films production, is produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, whose films, including The Danish Girl, Darkest Hour, Fargo, Les Misérables, The Theory of Everything and The Substance, among others, have earned 15 Academy Awards® and seven Best Picture nominations. The film is also produced by Jo Wallett (Wicked Little Letters, Catherine Called Birdy), and executive produced by Helen Fielding, Renée Zellweger, Amelia Granger and Sarah-Jane Wright. Working Title Films has produced all the Bridget Jones films.

BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY is available to buy or rent on April 1st from digital platforms: Prime Video, Apple TV, Fetch, Foxtel, Google TV, YouTube and Microsoft.

EXCLUSIVE BONUS FEATURES ONLY WHEN YOU PURCHASE ON APPLE TV

Deleted Scenes

Featurettes:

Back to Bridget – Renée Zellweger on her motivation to step back into Bridget’s shoes, the

producers’ excitement in bringing the character back to screens, Helen Fielding’s creation of a more complex and rounded Bridget Jones.

Bridget 4.0 – A widow and mother of two very different kids, fighting her way back to work…

but still very much Bridget Jones. Who is this new Bridget, what does her life look like, what is she looking for?

Mad About the Boys – Three is most certainly a crowd. Daniel Cleaver is still very much part of Bridget’s life, but here we introduce Roxster and Mr. Walliker – two very different sides to Bridget’s romantic coin –and explore what they represent to Bridget in this stage of her love life.
