A Brony Tale on iwonder launches this month

A Brony Tale on iwonder – Marking Geek Pride Day this May 25th, new to iWonder comes ‘A Brony Tale’, and the absorbing story of a community of men who are avid fans of the children’s cartoon, My Little Pony.

Leave your preconceptions behind and enter the heart-warming world of The Bronies.

When Canadian-based voice artist, Ashleigh Ball, was hired as the voice of Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash on the fourth-generation instalment of Hasbro’s My Little Pony series, she had no idea she was about to become an internet phenomenon.

A subculture of grown-ups who are obsessed with the show My Little Pony have created online forums, drawn their own characters, remixed videos on YouTube, and arranged numerous meetups.

The initial assumption is that these men are weirdos or paedophiles, a misconception that A Brony Tale tackles head on, as Director, Brent Hodge, assembles interviews, film clips, Internet entries, and new footage of actual conventions and meetings to explore the world of the Brony.

Each Brony has their own unique story to tell about how they got involved in My Little Pony. Some suffer from autism, some have served in the Iraq war and have post dramatic stress disorder, and others are fed up with the assumption that men have to put on a certain mask of masculinity to be accepted by society.

As well as offering an inside look into an unusual world, A Brony Tale examines the courage it takes just to be yourself…even if that means liking a little girls’ cartoon.

Adrian Chia, Head of Content at iWonder, says:

“Dispel your prejudgements about an adult man’s fascination with a child’s world and be swept away by the endearing story of a community who find acceptance and comradery through a cartoon that carries with it messages of joy and love, a fitting sentiment for Geek Pride Day.”
