After meeting a disgruntled patient, he agrees to swap rooms with him; the next morning he’s awakened by a scream.

So Long, Marianne

Australian Premiere

Saturday, 19 October 2024 on SBS On Demand (all eight episodes available)

So Long, Marianne tells the legendary love story of Canadian singer and poet Leonard Cohen, and his muse Marianne Ihlen who inspired the titular song. It’s an intimate tale of two lonely people falling in love during a period of their life when they are trying to figure out who they are and their place in the world, while one is becoming one of the most famous singers of all time. Their story crosses the world, travelling from Norway to Greece, New York and Montreal, with the majority of the series filmed on the picturesque Greek island of Hydra where they lived during the 1960s.

There, they joined legendary Australian novelists Charmian Clift and her husband George Johnston, the matriarch and patriarch of a bohemian group of writers, artists, poets, and outcasts who were exploring a new world of free love, drugs, and artistic freedom, but also experiencing the rivalries and jealousy that accompanied their intense, interwoven lives. Leading the cast are Alex Wolff (The Line, Hereditary, Jumanji) as Leonard, with Thea Sofie Loch Næss (The Last Kingdom, Delete Me, A Storm For Christmas) playing Marianne. Joining them are Anna Torv (The Newsreader, The Last of Us, Mindhunter), Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones) and Peter Stormare (American Gods, Fargo).

So Long, Marianne will be available in English, and Norwegian with English subtitles.

LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) investigated his mother’s murder for years, but was unable to bring the killer to justice in the end. The ugly truth behind that case has only left him more tense and restless.

Now, Bosch’s teenage daughter, Maddie, has come to live with him and ushered into his personal life the everyday responsibilities of being a single father. Meanwhile, Bosch remains a tenacious cop who struggles to attain justice in an imperfect system. Between the murder of a homeless veteran, the slaying of another man tied to several unsolved homicides, and a high-profile murder trial involving a Hollywood director, Bosch must take on his most formidable cases to date.

Based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling novels.

Bosch Season 3 will be available on SBS On Demand.

Thursday, 31 October 2024 on SBS On Demand (all six episodes available)

This taut mystery drama follows Dublin -based Theo Richter, an Irish Special Branch detective, as he heads to New Zealand to help search for two young Irish tourists who have vanished without a trace. They’ve gone missing from Mount Affinity, a picturesque rural town with a dark history of disappearance and death that has recently become home to supposedly altruistic tech conglomerate Houkura – dividing the local population.

This will be Richter’s last case as he’s just announced his early retirement, surprising his colleagues. He teams up with Diana Huia, a recently promoted young detective who has decided to return to her hometown to work the case. Seemingly worlds apart, but both hiding secrets, Theo and Diana must find a way of gaining locals’ trust, differentiating facts from fiction and stopping all-out war to find the young Irish couple before the clock runs out.

The Gone will be available on SBS On Demand.

Politics And Power
October 2024 on SBS on Demand

Special Collection

God And Country

From director Dan Partland and producer Rob Reiner, God And Country looks at the implications of Christian Nationalism and how it distorts not only America’s constitutional republic, but Christianity itself. Featuring prominent Christian thought leaders, God And Country asks this question: what happens when a faith built on love, sacrifice, and forgiveness is manipulated by some to grow political tentacles, conflating power, money, and belief into hyper-nationalism?

Make America Swift Again

Taylor Swift is more than an absolute pop star; she is an empire worth over a billion dollars. Yet, despite her image and her apolitical lyrics, the singer tears through an America stirred by a particularly violent presidential campaign. The Democrats dream of counting on her media support, while the Republicans, mired in candidate Trump’s legal troubles, are terrified by the influence Taylor Swift could have on the election.
