This BAFTA and RTS award winning off-kilter British comedy thriller returns with laughs and plots twists aplenty after the revelation Nic (Daisy May Cooper) not so accidentally killed her lover Alex (David Fynn).
The new season begins where the previous one left Nic … mid panic attack. Has Nic got away with murder? Possibly. And has she raised her son Ollie (Lennie Rush) to follow in her footsteps? That’s the worry. Kicked out of the family home, Nic is reduced to sharing a caravan with not so trustworthy best friend Jen (Selin Hizli). Meanwhile, Nic’s husband Dan (Dustin Demri-Burns) has taken up rollerblading to channel his mid-life crisis. Shunned at the school gates, Nic is experiencing hallucinations. Or is the local pervert playing tricks on her? We’re never quite sure. As this pacey and gripping thriller reaches its climax only one person can save Nic – but at what cost?
Cooper and Hizli are co-creators and writers of the series. Cameo appearances during the second season include Chelsea Peretti (Brooklyn Nine- Nine), Tom Davis (Wonka), Denise Black (Queer as Folk), Jamali Maddix (Never Mind The Buzzcocks) and Charlie Cooper (Cooper’s brother and her co-creator and co-star in This Country).

Jacki is joined by an all-star cast of commentators who react to each film through a contemporary lens, including filmmaker Phillip Noyce AO (Rabbit Proof Fence), cultural critics Benjamin Law and Jan Fran, comedian Zoë Coombs Marr, broadcaster Leila Gurruwiwi, actress Rachael Maza and pioneering Indigenous activist Dr. Gary Foley. The series also features many of the films’ original subjects, including Jacki herself. Through archival footage, made available by the National Film and Sound Archive, the three-part documentary series gives viewers unprecedented access to never-been-seen productions by renegade filmmakers that tackled taboo topics, amplified marginalised voices, and lifted the lid on the emerging social issues of the ‘70s. Prime Minister Robert Sutherland (Robert Carlyle, Trainspotting) is plunged into chaos when an environmental demonstration meets with grave consequences, just as his popularity is plummeting in light of a controversial police-protest bill. Meanwhile, his home life is in turmoil, and his government is still reeling from a recent cyberwar.
As the inquest into the events at the protest gets underway, the Prime Minister and his government begin to realise that all is not as it seems. And with his daughter Ellie (Holly Cattle , Santi) potentially embroiled with the group behind it all, his interest in the case isn’t purely political. The investigation quickly takes them into the dark underbelly of the nation’s power, and the PM starts to doubt whom of his team he can truly trust. The crisis spirals further to encompass not only the urgent threat of environmental destruction but also the malignant corruption of the arms industry, the rise of shadowy corporate security firms and the grim reality of the UK’s relationship with a crucial ally. The rebellion will push Robert Sutherland to the edge and force him to question what he’s personally willing to sacrifice in order to stay in power.
Jane Horrocks (Bloods) joins the drama as Victoria Dalton, the new Defence Secretary.

Icebreaker is a gripping and eerie survival thriller.
This Finnish drama starring Jessica Grabowsky (Midnight Sun) was created by Mia Ylönen, who is also the creator of Codename: Annika, available now on SBS On Demand).
In Icebreaker, Ylönen plays with confined spaces, desolate surroundings and otherworldly traditions to send chills down the spine.
An icebreaker is stranded in a winter storm on the longest, darkest night of the year. Coast Guard officer Sanna Tanner (Grabowsky) rushes to the rescue, but the operation quickly turns into a fight for survival when she finds herself trapped on board with the ship’s troubled crew. As Sanna digs deeper, it becomes clear that everyone has something to hide. A series of disturbing events force Sanna to solve the mystery – before she becomes the next victim.

Based on the best-selling Harry Virdee books by A.A. Dhand and set and filmed in the city of Bradford, UK, Virdee follows Harry Virdee, a cop disowned by his Sikh family for marrying Saima, who is Muslim. Harry struggles with the abandonment and now with his young son, Aaron, growing up and asking questions, thinks it might be time to attempt to reunite with his family. With his personal life in chaos, he must now hunt down a serial killer targeting the South Asian community.
When the murderer kidnaps a local police chief’s son and holds the entire city to ransom, Harry realises that he is going to need the help of his brother-in-law Riaz, a drugs kingpin who runs the largest cartel in the county. Pulled together in an alliance that could ruin them both, Harry must make a choice: save himself and his family or save his city. He will not be able to do both.

Nina Singh (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry) plays Tara Virdee, Harry’s niece and a keen crime reporter, with Vikash Bhai (Crossfire , Limbo) as Harry’s brother-in-law Riaz Hyatt. Kulvinder Ghir (Foundation, Blinded By The Light) and Sudha Bhuchar (Expats, Rules of the Game) will play Harry Virdee’s parents, Ranjit and Jyoti.
Virdee is adapted for the screen by A.A. Dhand and directed by Mark Tonderai (Gotham, Doctor Who, Foundation), Milad Ami (Bullshit, When the Dust Settles), and Mo Ali (Hijack, Cobra).
Multi-award-winner Hans Zimmer composed the Virdee title theme with James Everingham and Shashwat Sachdev from Bleeding Fingers.

A searing tale of love and betrayal, adapted from a script by multi-Academy Award-winner Ingmar Bergman (1918-2007), one of the most influential filmmakers of all time.
In May 1995, following the death of his wife, Ingrid, an aging Bergman sat down at his desk, pen in hand, and began working on what would become one of his final screenplays. Faithless is said to be inspired by events that took place in 1949, and by Bergman’s relationship with Gun Grut (later Gun Bergman). In Bergman’s autobiography, Laterna Magica (1987), he noted she was the inspiration behind many of the strong female characters in his body of work. Faithless was made into a feature film directed by Liv Ullmann, which premiered in competition at the 53rd Cannes Film Festival in 2000.
Now, acclaimed Swedish director Tomas Alfredson (Let The Right One In, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) has reinterpreted Bergman’s original screenplay from scripts adapted by Norwegian writer Sara Johnsen (22 July).
The story is told across two time periods. In the present day the renowned director David Howard, 73 (Jesper Christensen , Quantum of Solace, Spectre), is reunited with his former great love, actress Marianne Vogler, 75 ( Lena Endre, played the Marianne role in Ullmann’s Faithless, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo). Their encounter forces them to confront the painful repercussions of their past relationship, not only for themselves but also for their families. 40 years prior a young David (Gustav Lindh, The Northman, Queen of Hearts) and Marianne (Frida Gustavsson, Vikings: Valhalla) find themselves entwined in a passionate love affair, which they must keep a secret as Marianne is married to David’s best friend, Markus (August Wittingstein, The Crown, Das Boot).
Faithless (Swedish) will be available in Swedish with English subtitles on SBS On Demand.
