Trespasses
**Australian Premiere** **Box Set Drop**
Wednesday, 4 February 2026 on SBS On Demand (4 episodes)
Trespasses is the story of Cushla (Lola Petticrew), a young Catholic schoolteacher whose life in 1975 Northern Ireland is shadowed by the Troubles. Amid curfews, bombings, and betrayals, she works nights in her family’s pub, serving both sides and British soldiers, when she meets and falls for Michael (Tom Cullen) – an older, married Protestant barrister. Their affair is intoxicating and dangerous.
Cushla’s world is full of defiant spirits: her drunk, sharp-tongued mother Gina (Gillian Anderson), her lively pupils, and beloved colleague Gerry (Oisín Thompson). But as the forbidden love between Cushla and Michael deepens, violence looms and tensions rise. Cushla will be pulled between duty and desire, and family and freedom.
Room for more yearning? SBS has you covered with romance aplenty. Start with the sundrenched Leonard Cohen biopic So Long Marianne, where artist and muse meet on the island of Hydra. Moveon to the sensual adaptation of the Spanish novel Like Water for Chocolate executive produced by Salma Hayek Pinault. And last but not least dig into the SBS Original Four Years Later for a movingand complex relationship study over, you guessed it, four years.
15th Century historical epic

Rise of the Raven
**Australian Premiere** **Box Set Drop**
Thursday, 12 February 2026 on SBS On Demand (10 episodes)
The story of Janos Hunyadi (Gellért L. Kádár) is the epic tale of a modest hero who against all odds, vanquished the much larger Ottoman army and halted its drive to conquer the Vatican and overrun Western Europe. In so doing, Hunyadi not only shaped the history of Hungary, but all of Europe. This 10-episode mini-series set in the 15th century is based on the bestselling Hungarian novels by Mór Bán.
With a visually striking contemporary approach, the series chronicles Hunyadi’s lifelong struggle against the ever-expanding Ottoman Empire as well as his enemies at home. It all culminates in Hunyadi’s climactic victory against seemingly insurmountable odds when he defeats the invading Ottoman army at the siege of Nandorfehervar (contemporary Belgrade), a triumph that forever altered the fate of Europe.
The series is produced by Robert Lantos, and directed by Academy Award Nominated director Robert Dornhelm, Orsi Nagypál and Attila Szász, with showrunner Balázs Lengyel.

With her deep-rooted sense of justice, she sees her neighbours’ problems and feels compelled to help – whether they want her help or not. And in her world, the end justifies the means. Always.
Written and Directed by Benedikt Erlingsson (Woman at War) and co-written by Ólafur Egill Egilsson.
Fun fact: On top of being a wonderful actress, Trine Dyrholm is also a musician! She was among the top nominees to represent Denmark at Eurovision in the 80s when she was only 14 years old. Thankfully The Danish Woman allows ample time for her to flex her musical talents. Each episode begins and ends with a song and dance from the actress and supporting cast in wonderful moments of near magical realism.
