Meg Lanning Announced as the Official Prime Video ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Ambassador – Prime Video today announced Australian cricket icon Meg Lanning as Prime Video’s official ambassador for its exclusive broadcast of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Affectionately known as ‘the Megastar’, Lanning is one of Australia’s most decorated female cricketers, with over seven ICC World Cup wins to her name, including five of them as captain of the Australian side.

In what is Australia’s first World Cup campaign without Lanning, announcing her retirement late last year, the former Australian captain will become an expert for Prime Video, providing insight and analysis of the tournament alongside Prime Video’s exclusive broadcast as it unfolds next month.

Commencing from 3 – 21 October, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will ignite cricket fans across the globe as the tournament will be hosted in the United Arab Emirates for the first time, across two venues in Dubai and Sharjah.

In its ninth edition, 10 teams will battle it out in 23 matches as the Australian Women’s team strive to take out their fourth ICC Women’s T20 World Cup trophy in a row. Original host Bangladesh will play the curtain raiser against Scotland in Sharjah before Australia plays its first match against Sri Lanka on 6 October.

The semi-finals will get under way on 18 October in Dubai, with the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup champions crowned on 21 October. All the big hits, all the wickets and all the big moments, live on Prime Video.

“I am thrilled to work with the Prime Video team as an ambassador for its exclusive broadcast of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup this year,”

– said Lanning.

“Being the first World Cup since my retirement from international cricket, I’m looking forward to enjoying the tournament from a new perspective that I haven’t had before. It’s set to be a cracking tournament, with the Aussies looking strong (as always!) and I’m pumped to follow their progress live and exclusively on Prime Video.”

Defending champion Australia heads into the tournament as the top ranked team ahead of longtime rivals, England and India. Set as the tournament favourite, Australia will be vying for a record breaking fourth-consecutive title, hoping to bring their tournament victory tally to a total of seven times across nine editions.

For those looking to catch up on the action, customers will have a choice of 10- or 25-minute highlights, or a full match replay from the first ball available immediately after the match has finished.

There will also be a Rapid Recap feature for fans joining the broadcast late to bring them up to speed with a two-minute highlights package of action so far. For the first time, Australian sports fans will be able to watch the 10-minute highlights in front of the Prime Video paywall – all Australian customers need is an Amazon account.

Prime Video exclusively holds the live Australian broadcast rights for ICC cricket events for the next four years. Cricket fans across Australia will have exclusive access to all matches in every tournament of elite ICC competition, including the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year and the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. This is at no extra cost to a Prime membership and is available as part of new customers’ free 30-day trial.

“Meg Lanning is one of Australia’s most iconic cricketers, and we are delighted to welcome her to Prime Video as our ambassador for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup this October,”

– said Head of Prime Video Australia and New Zealand, Hwei Loke.

“We are dedicated to providing our members with a premier sport viewing experience, and are thrilled to honour this with exclusive coverage of the biggest moment in global women’s cricket, with every match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup available on Prime Video live and on any device.”

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on Prime Video – from 3 October, 2024.
