Lucky and Imperfect Women on Apple TV announcements – The stars and creators of “Lucky” took the stage to reveal the premiere date, teaser video and first-look at the anticipated limited drama starring Golden Globe Award winner, SAG Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Anya Taylor-Joy, who also serves as executive producer.
Apple TV released the teaser for “Imperfect Women,” a new psychological thriller starring and executive produced by Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Shining Girls,” “Mad Men”) and Kerry Washington (“Scandal,” “Little Fires Everywhere,” “UnPrisoned”), and created for television by Annie Weisman (“Physical,” “Based on a True Story”), who also serves as showrunner.

With a star-studded ensemble cast that also includes Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, Aunjanue Ellis Taylor, Drew Starkey, Clifton Collins, Jr. and William Fichtner, “Lucky” will make its global debut on Apple TV with the first two episodes on Wednesday, 15 July, followed by new episodes every Wednesday through 19 August.
“Lucky” is based on The New York Times bestselling novel and Reese’s Book Club pick of the same name by Marissa Stapley. When a multi-million-dollar heist goes sideways, con artist Lucky (Anya Taylor-Joy) is forced to go on the run. Pursued by both the FBI and a ruthless crime boss, Lucky must fight for her life — and a way out.
Hailing from Apple Studios, “Lucky” is co-showrun, written and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper through his Tropper Ink banner and under his overall deal with Apple TV, alongside co-showrunner and executive producer Cassie Pappas. The series is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine. Taylor-Joy executive produces through her production banner, LadyKiller. Jonathan van Tulleken, who directed the pilot, is also executive producing.
In addition to “Lucky,” Apple Originals produced by Hello Sunshine include Emmy, SAG and Critics Choice Award-winning series “Morning Wars,” starring Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston; “The Last Thing He Told Me,” starring Jennifer Garner, “Truth Be Told,” starring Octavia Spencer; and the psychological thriller “Surface,” starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Based on Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, “Imperfect Women” examines a crime that shatters the lives of a decades-long friendship of three women. The unconventional thriller explores guilt and retribution, love and betrayal, and the compromises we make that alter our lives irrevocably. As the investigation unfolds, so does the truth about how even the closest friendships may not be what they seem.

“Imperfect Women” is a co-production between 20th Television and Apple Studios. Weisman serves as showrunner, marking her latest collaboration with Apple TV following the critically acclaimed dramedy “Physical.” The limited series is executive produced by Moss and Lindsey McManus, who initially optioned the book, via their production company Love & Squalor Pictures. Washington executive produces for her Simpson Street banner alongside Pilar Savone. Author Hall serves as executive producer along with writer Kay Oyegun. Lesli Linka Glatter (“Homeland,” “Love & Death”) serves as director and executive producer of episodes one, four and five.
