The Cape Barren Geese and Little Blue Penguins are in for a rude awakening when Phillip Island comes to life with the sound of SpeedSeries. Five of the country’s best categories will hit the famed grand prix circuit for two days of racing at the isle.
Headlining the weekend is TCR Australia Series, which sees Supercars stars Tony D’Alberto and Will Brown chasing down little-known young gun Bailey Sweeny for the win. Two brand-new cars will debut, a Cupra Leon and a Lynk & Co 03 in the hands of Michael Clemente and Tom Oliphant respectively.
A massive 21-car GT World Challenge Australia field featuring Lamborghini, Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, and more will be headlined by internet sensation Renee Gracie and the best sports car racers around the world. Sam Brabham, grandson of F1 champion Jack, will return as will Bathurst 6 Hour winner Jayden Ojeda.
The thundering Trans Am series brings 17 cars to the grid, headlined by Bathurst 1000 winner Allan Moffat’s son James Moffat. The V8 Touring Car Series will draw some iconic cars out of the garage, including the Craig Lowndes/Warren Luff Holden VE Commodore raced in the 2012 Bathurst 1000 sporting a Peter Brock tribute livery. The Australian Production Cars and GT4 rounds out the categories.

The ‘Month of May’ celebrations at Indianapolis Motor Speedway begin in earnest with the road course race on Sunday morning. The curtain-raiser to the Indianapolis 500 will see the IndyCar Series race on parts of the old grand prix circuit, which utilises the infield.
Last year’s Indianapolis 500 winner Marcus Ericsson finds himself atop the order for Chip Ganassi Racing just head of McLaren’s Pato O’Ward, who remains winless in 2023. Ericsson’s teammate Alex Palou, who sits third in the standings, is also still searching for his first win. Scott McLaughlin’s first breakthrough of the year at Barber Motorsports Park has vaulted him to fourth in the standings, just ahead of ex-F1 driver Romain Grosjean of Andretti Autosport. Aussie Will Power isn’t far behind in seventh for Team Penske.
