Jai Opetaia and Hüseyin Cinkara will put their unbeaten records on the line in what promises to be an explosive fight for the IBF and The Ring cruiserweight world titles on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Opetaia is Australia’s top pound-for-pound boxer and the country’s only male world champion, boasting a 28-0 record with 22 KOs.

German giant Cinkara, meanwhile, holds a 23-0 record with 19 KOs and is not taking a backward step.

“I’ve been training like a man possessed,” Cinkara said.

“I’m not here to play nice – I’m here to take the belts. I’m coming over to knock Opetaia senseless in front of his own fans.”

Australia’s men’s and women’s teams are looking to build on a highly encouraging start to the World Sevens Series when the action moves to Cape Town this weekend.

Both Aussie teams finished runners-up to New Zealand in the season-opening tournament in Dubai last weekend.

Manly youngster Beau Morrison is set to make his men’s national debut as a replacement for star playmaker Maurice Longbottom, who injured his hamstring in last weekend’s grand final.

And women’s coach Tim Walsh has freshened up his squad with the additions of Bridget Clark, Kahli Henwood and Kiiahla Duff.

Sunderland, meanwhile, have been the competition’s fairytale story, after earning promotion from the Championship.
