Teen speedster Hadley Tonga will finally be unleashed for Australia’s men’s team at the World Rugby Sevens descends upon Perth over the next three days.
Tonga, a western Sydney prodigy, knocked back NRL contract offers and would have already made his debut for Australia if not for injury.
Meanwhile, Australia women’s coach Tim Walsh has made one change to his squad with Demi Hayes returning in place of Sariah Paki who is ruled out with a calf injury, as superstar Maddison Levi will aim to be at her rampaging best and shatter more records.
Both Australian teams finished runner-up in Perth last year, and will be looking to go one step further in front of a raucous home crowd.
“Perth put on a show last year and we want to join the Aussie summer party and really express ourselves out on the field,” Walsh said.
“Once a year we play international sevens on home soil and there is no better time to enjoy our rugby.”
