Cooper Woods wins gold for Australia at Milano Cortina on Channel 9 – At 25 years old, Cooper Woods has claimed gold in the Men’s Freestyle Skiing Moguls, securing Australia’s first medal of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
In a heart-stopping finish, Woods’ winning score of 83.71 was equal with Canadian Mikael Kingsbury however, under the Olympic tie-break rules, Woods was awarded the gold medal based on his superior technical turn score.
Competing in his second Olympic Winter Games, Woods has achieved the pinnacle of the sport moving from a sixth-place finish on debut at Beijing 2022 to the top of the podium in Livigno.
Woods now joins an elite club of Australian Olympic Winter champions, including Steven Bradbury, Alisa Camplin, Dale Begg-Smith, Torah Bright, Lydia Lassila and Jakara Anthony.
