NFL on ESPN week 16 2024 fixture – Three weeks remain in the NFL season and it is all to play for heading into Week 16 as ESPN delivers SEVEN massive live games as part of a festive football frenzy that will have major implications over divisional winners and the playoff hopes of all involved.
NFL Week 16 on ESPN begins Friday December 20 when the Denver Broncos meet the Los Angeles Chargers at 12.15pm AEDT.
This one has playoff ramifications with both the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers sitting on the fringe of the post-season places.
Denver provided themselves some comfort, downing an AFC playoff challenger Indianapolis 31-13 last round.
It was not good news for the Chargers though. They were belted by Tampa Bay – a heavy 23-point loss not needed with season hopes hanging in the balance.
A crucial Sunday morning clash looms at 8.30am AEDT between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.
The rare Sunday morning AEDT clash is between the top two in the AFC North.
Pittsburgh have already secured a playoff position and currently sit one game above the Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens currently hold down the fifth spot in the AFC and were helped by an impressive win over the New York Giants last round.
Although Pittsburgh is secured in the playoffs, they won’t want to begin a losing run. They fell 27-13 to the red-hot Eagles at the weekend.
Monday December 23 continues the NFC feast as part of a pre-Christmas bonanza including over 20+ hours of live NFL across ESPN, ESPN2 and NFL RedZone on the ESPN App*.
Kicking things off at 5am AEDT on ESPN, the Philadelphia Eagles battle the Washington Commanders.
The Eagles continue to hit their stride at the right time of year, surging to 10 straight wins.
Philadelphia’s latest was against Pittsburgh, another who has locked up a playoff place already.
Washington remains in the race, sitting in an NFC Wildcard place, and this almost feels like a playoff game come early for the Commanders.
At the same time over on ESPN2, Los Angeles Rams face off against the New York Jets.
The Jets had something to celebrate last round, downing the Jaguars 32-25 to record a much-needed victory.
Los Angeles look playoff bound, but Aaron Rodgers and co could throw a curve ball this week and upset the 8-6 Rams.
The Rams have won three straight games to now sit at the top of the NFC West, holding an identical record to Seattle.
Next up at 8.25am AEDT the Minnesota Vikings take on the Seattle Seahawks.
The Vikings are surging on the back of six straight victories.
Minnesota have locked in a playoff position and sit just one win away from the top of the NFC Conference.
Seattle on the other hand are in the playoff logjam and currently sitting outside the post-season places and cannot afford to lose.
Monday’s schedule concludes at 12.15pm AEDT as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tackle the Dallas Cowboys.
It is highly unlikely that the 6-8 Cowboys will make the playoffs but not yet an impossible equation.
A lot must fall their way, including a win over the current #3 NFC seed Tampa Bay, who destroyed the Chargers 40-17 last round.
Tuesday December 24 sees the culmination of Week 16 action at 12.15pm AEDT as New Orleans Saints and the Green Bay Packers go head-to-head.
New Orleans is another still in playoff contention, although they must win every game from here on out and hope other results fall their way.
Green Bay do not require the same hail mary – but with the Commanders and Seahawks chasing them hard for the final NFC playoff positions, the showdown with the Saints could prove season defining.
