NFL on ESPN as Final Four battle for Super Bowl LIX berth – The NFC and AFC Conference Championship games are set with the Philadelphia Eagles facing the Washington Commanders and Kansas City Chiefs meeting the Buffalo Bills in a huge NFL Monday double header live on ESPN.
Just four teams remain in the race to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans as the NFC and AFC Conference Championships are decided on Monday January 27.
The huge double header begins live at 7am AEDT on ESPN with the Philadelphia Eagles tackling the Washington Commanders in the NFC Conference Championship.
Washington came into the playoffs as the sixth seed in the NFC, but they have gone to another level in the post-season.
Commanders’ QB Jayden Daniels is in scorching hot form, which is made even more remarkable given it is his rookie season and his first time playing playoff football.
Daniels led Washington to a 45-31 victory against the #1 ranked Detroit Lions to secure a place in the NFC Conference Championship. The Lions defence simply had no answer for Daniels.
Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley has enjoyed his time against Washington, averaging 137 scrimmaging yards per game.
Australia’s Jordan Mailata will hope the Eagles can return to the Super Bowl, having lost a heartbreaker 38-35 in 2023.
The NFC East rivals split their two games during the regular season – the Eagles winning 26-18 in November before the Commanders responded with a 36-33 win in December.
The AFC Conference Championship follows live at 10.30am AEDT on ESPN, where the #1 AFC ranked Kansas City Chiefs face off against the #2 ranked Buffalo Bills.
The dream AFC finale has materialized where the Chiefs’ juggernaut hopes to roll on to another Super Bowl, whilst the Bills’ look to put their curse to bed and return to the NFL’s biggest stage.
Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) and Josh Allen (Bills) will be firmly in the spotlight. The AFC decider will be the ninth meeting between the pair – the head-to-head record currently tied at 4-4.
In the NFL Playoffs however, Mahomes holds a 3-0 record. The Bills have lost all three post-season matchups against the Chiefs since 2020.
This season could mark a changing of the guard though. Allen is enjoying an MVP level season and Buffalo defeated the Chiefs 30-21 in the regular season.
Travis Kelce is finding his groove at the right time. He had seven receptions for 117 receiving yards in the Divisional Round win against Houston – more than double his season average.
The Chiefs have made three of the last four Super Bowls and are seeking a third straight NFL Championship.
Buffalo have not made the Super Bowl since 1994 – the last of four consecutive defeats, igniting a ‘curse’ which Bills’ fans hope finally ends in 2025.
Super Bowl LIX is live on ESPN Monday February 10 at 10am AEDT.
