The Final Round Promotions event is headlined by the IBO Oceania-Orient Heavyweight Title fight between dynamic heavyweights Liam Talivaa and Faiga ‘Django’ Opelu.
Both Talivaa and ‘Django’ are known for bringing the action inside the ring and the heavy-handed heavyweights are set for an exciting eight-round main event fight with the IBO Oceania-Orient Heavyweight title on the line.
Opelu has fought some of the best heavyweights across Australia, as well as two former heavyweight champions Joseph Parker and Lucas Browne.
The heavyweight headliner is one of four championship fights across the stacked seven-fight broadcast.
Talivaa vs Opelu will be on the most widely distributed sports network in Australia and New Zealand across Disney+, Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV and Sky NZ.
Talivaa vs Django is live on Wednesday April 8 from 7pm AEST on ESPN via Disney+, Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV and Sky NZ.
Clay Waterman (14-2) fights the dangerous King Davidson in the co-main event.
‘The Weapon’ Waterman has previously represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games and is chasing a rematch against Australian star Paulo Aukuso, following a controversial defeat the last time the two shared the ring.
Mounir Fathi and Sergei Vorobev will also collide for the IBO Oceania-Orient Super Welterweight Championship.
Fathi is a dangerous finisher and all nine of his professional wins have come via knockout. It is a true clash of styles and has ‘Fight of the Night’ potential.
Also, Salvatore Gattuso and Freddy Doidoi will contest the ANBF Australasian Cruiserweight Title.
Gattuso enters his first career title opportunity, having raced to a 5-0 record in his first year as a professional – with all victories coming inside the first round.
Tyrell Adams is another rising star in action, with the 20-year-old the youngest Australian champion since Lionel Rose.
Adams has the opportunity to fight for the IBO Oceania Orient Flyweight title against Sem Jopet Enano.
Canterbury Bulldogs NRLW star Angelina Teakaraanga-Katoa will make her professional boxing debur against Natthawadee Sommanat – becoming the first professional NRLW player to enter the ring as a professional.
Rising prospect Alex Leapai Jr is also in action on the undercard, facing heavyweight Veni Mafi.
Leapai Jr made the decision to leave the NRL to pursue boxing full time and the hard punching powerhouse is looking to make a statement in the six-round contest.
The Talivaa vs Django event will be hosted by an expert panel including Australian boxing legend Barry Michael, respected journalist Peter Badel, host Samantha Riches, ringside reporter Renee Gardner and commentators Bruce Eva, Stephen White and Adam Santarossa.
