Australian Boomers and New Zealand Tall Blacks FIBA World Cup Qualifiers Live on ESPN – The Australian Boomers clash with Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand Tall Blacks in a crucial two-game FIBA World Cup Asia qualifying series that marks the beginning of the road to the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2027, with both games live on ESPN on Friday November 28 and Monday December 1.

The two game series between Australia and New Zealand is the start of the quest to reach the FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup 2027 in Qatar.

The Trans-Tasman basketball neighbours have both been drawn in Group A of the FIBA Men’s World Cup Qualifiers – Asia alongside Guam and the Philippines.

Each team will face off on a home and away basis over the first phase of FIBA World Cup qualification, with the top three teams going through to the second round.

Game One between the Australian Boomers and the New Zealand Tall Blacks from Hobart, Tasmania is live on ESPN at 7.30pm AEDT on Friday November 28.

Australian basketball legend Andrew Gaze will join caller John Casey in commentary for the opening game in Tasmania.

Game Two will switch the home court advantage to Wellington, New Zealand, as New Zealand and Australia clash at 5pm AEDT on Monday December 1, live on ESPN.

Viewers will be able to see both games live with ESPN available on Disney+, Foxtel, Kayo Sports, Fetch TV and Sky NZ, as part of the most widely distributed premium sports platform in Australia and New Zealand.

Australia has retained the core of the 2025 Asia Cup championship team, with a mix of emerging young talent and experienced international campaigners making up the squad named for the two-game series with New Zealand.

Leading the young talent that has been given the opportunity is Dash Daniels, the 17-year-old sensation that has excelled in the NBL this season for Melbourne United.

Josh Bannan, Alex Ducas, Ben Ayre, Angus Glover, Jaylin Galloway, Jordan Hunter, Nick Kay, Keanu Pinder, Elijah Pepper, William Hickey and Jack White join Daniels in the Australian side.

16 Asian International teams have been drawn into four groups for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 qualifiers across six international windows.

Ultimately eight nations, including hosts Qatar, will reach the 32-team FIBA Men’s Basketball World Cup to fight for the coveted Naismith Trophy.

ESPN will be the home of all FIBA international matches involving the Australian Boomers and New Zealand Tall Blacks on the road to the FIBA World Cup 2027, including the FIBA World Cup 2027 tournament itself.
