Ratings | WA footy audiences soar on Seven – Perth delivers biggest audience growth in the country, up 32%.
The Seven Network’s coverage of the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is striking a powerful chord with Western Australian fans, with WA footy audiences surging to Round 4 and Perth recording the highest audience growth in the nation.
Total TV audiences across WA are up 24% year‑on‑year, with Perth leading the charge, climbing an outstanding 32%, underscoring the continued strength of free AFL on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Streaming audiences are accelerating rapidly, with 7plus Sport up 177% across WA. Growth is even stronger in regional WA, where AFL streaming has jumped 250%, highlighting Seven’s expanding reach across the state.
Support for WA’s two AFL clubs continues to build momentum. West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers matches are up 6% year‑on‑year, reflecting strong local engagement early in the season.
In Perth, West Coast Eagles matches on Seven and 7plus Sport are up 24%, with the Round 3 clash against Port Adelaide delivering a total TV audience of 142,000.
Audiences are responding strongly to Seven’s WA local commentary team, led by Ryan Daniels and Mark Readings, now in its second season. Delivering trusted local voices and unmatched insight live from the ground, the Round 2 local call of West Coast v North Melbourne averaged 102,000 viewers across WA, up 6% on the 2025 average audience for West Coast matches.

Friday Night Footy sees Fremantle face Collingwood under lights at Adelaide Oval, with the Dockers looking to extend their winning run, before West Coast return to the action on Sunday, aiming to bounce back when they take on Geelong at Norwood Oval.
