Analysis for Total TV (29 November, 2022) and Overnight (6 December, 2022) ratings.

TOTAL TV – Total People

Seven News was #1 with 1,379 000 viewers, a rise of 3%. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with 1,338 000, an upswing of 3%. The Chase Australia was #7 with 755 000, a lift of 3%. A repeat of Border Security: Australia’s Front Line was #10 with 668 000, an increase of 5%. Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly was #12 with 551 000, a boost of 8%. The Good Doctor was #13 with 490 000, growth of 39%. The Chase Australia – 5pm was #15 with 462 000, strengthening its overnights by 3%. Sunrise was #19 but #1 at breakfast with 364 000, bolstering its audience by 5%. Seven News at 4:30 was #28 with 288 000, an upsurge of 3%.

Nine News 6:30 was #3 with 1,050 000, an improvement of 4% on its overnights. Nine News was #4 with 974 000, expanding by 4%. A Current Affair was #5, but #1 in its slot with 916 000, enhancing its audience by 5%. A repeat of Travel Guides was #9 but #1 non news in prime time with 707 000, uplifting 7%. Hot Seat was #14 with 466 000, up 4%. Love Island Australia started last week with 39 000 on 9GO but saw its audience rise 515% to 375 000 viewers and landed at #17 last Tuesday. The movie, Central Intelligence was #18 with 369 000, an upswing of 5%. A repeat of Tipping Point was #20 with 364 00, a lift of 5%. Nine’s Afternoon News was #22 with 303 000, an increase of 4%. Today was #23 with 301 000, a boost of 7%. Hot Seat – 5pm was #27 with 288 000, a boost of 4%.

The Project 7pm was #16 with 378 000, growth of 4%. 10 News First was #21 with 340 000, strengthening its overnights by 2%. A repeat of Ambulance Australia was #25 with 290 000, bolstering its audience by 7%. NCIS was #29 with 284 000, an upsurge of 29%. The Project 6:30pm was #30 with 275 000, an improvement of 5% on its overnight number last Tuesday.

ABC News was #6, but was #2 in its slot behind ACA with 834 000, expanding by 3%. 730 was #8 with 752 000, enhancing its audience by 5%. Stuff the British Stole continues to do well, last week at #11 with 574 000 and uplifting its audience by 14%. A repeat of Love on the Spectrum was #26 with 289 000 viewers, up 5%.

SBS had the 2022 FIFA World Cup match between Portugal and Uruguay at #24 with 292 000, a rise of 65%.

TOTAL TV – 25-54

In comparison to Total People, Love Island went from #17 to #7 with 204 000 and a massive increase of 603%. This demographic preferred the repeat of Border Security, moving from #10 to #8, whilst ABC News fell from #6 to #17. FIFA World Cup proved much stronger in 25-54 with the Portugal and Uruguay match #13 for the night. Interestingly more people watched S.W.A.T at 9:30pm on Seven, than NCIS at 8:30pm on 10. The Project 7pm is much stronger in 25-54 than total people moving from #16 to #9.

OVERNIGHT RATINGS

Winner: 9Gem (3.5%)

Second: ABC Kids / ABC TV Plus (3.4%)


Analysis

Seven News was #1 with wins in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with wins in Sydney, Adelaide and Perth. A repeat of Border Security: Australia’s Front Line was #10 but #3 in its slot with 376 000. Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly was #11 with 327 000. The Good Doctor marked its final episode of the year due to upcoming BBL coverage with 195 000 viewers, to land at #20. S.W.A.T aired at 9:30pm with 109 000. There was a second episode of S.W.A.T at 10:30pm, marking a season final with 89 000 tuning in.

Nine News 630 was #3 with wins in Melbourne and Brisbane. Nine News was #4 with 644 000 with a win in Brisbane. A Current Affair was #6 overall but #2 in its slot, behind ABC News with 522 000. A repeat of Travel Guides was #9 but #1 non news in prime time with 402 000. The Australian movie, The Dish was #16 with 241 000. Nine News Late was on 141 000. Skin A+E had 47 000 tuning in late night.

The Project 630pm had 165 000 viewers, The Project 7pm was on 261 000. A repeat of Ambulance Australia had 187 000 tune in. A new episode of NCIS was watched by 174 000. A repeat at 9:30pm was on 115 000. An encore episode of NCIS: Hawaii from Sunday had 57 000 viewers at 10:30pm.

ABC News was #5, but #1 in its slot with 536 000. 730 was #7 with 432 000. ABC aired the season final of Stuff the British Stole, #12 with 326 000. A repeat of Love on the Spectrum had 166 000 viewers.

A new episode of Adam Hills: The Last Leg performed well for ABC TV Plus, placing #4, as was Would I Lie to You at #11, helping the channel to second place for the night. 9Gem continued with the Bond series with On her Majesty’s Secret Service, plus New Tricks securing 9Gem a win. Call the Midwife performed well for 7two at #9. NCIS hit the mark for 10 Bold at #7.
