Seven

Seven had a strong night with Seven News #1, Sunrise #1 at breakfast and The Chase Australia winning from 5pm. Seven’s Cricket was consistent enough for a strong winning share.

#1 Seven News – 1,212 000 (+2%)

#2 Seven News at 6:30 – 1, 153 000 (+2%)

#5 Seven’s Cricket: Second Test: Australia v South Africa – Day 4 Session 2 – 807 000 (+0%). Due to Seven not having BVOD rights for 7plus there was no uptick in Total TV.

#7 Seven’s Cricket: Second Test: Australia v South Africa – Day 4 Post Match – 702 000 (+0%)

#8 Seven’s Cricket: Second Test: Australia v South Africa – Day 4 Session 1 – 669 000 (+0%)

#9 The Chase Australia – 661 000 (+2%). The show was #1 in its slot

Star Trek Beyond was one of the better performing movies across summer.

#19 10 News First – 301 000 (+2%)

#20 The Project 7pm – 272 000 (+2%)

#27 Star Trek Beyond – 215 000 (+5%)

ABC

ABC has strong nights across the week but Thursdays seem to be their achilles heel, with issues across the night.

#6 ABC News – 717 000 (+3%)

#18 Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery (repeat) – 325 000 (+3%)

#25 Grand Designs: House of the Year (repeat) – 223 000 (+6%)

#29 Hard Quiz (repeat) – 208 000 (+6%)

#30 You Can’t Ask That (repeat) – 202 000 (+4%)

SBS

#26 The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys – 219 000 (+7%)

TOTAL TV – 25-54

Seven took control of this demographic with its combination of News, and Cricket taking positions #1 through to #7. Star Trek Beyond was a stronger performer in 25-54 than in total people, placing #21 with 69 000 with an increase of !%.

OVERNIGHT RATINGS


Analysis

Seven

Seven News was #1 with wins in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with wins in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Seven’s Cricket: Third Test – Australia v South Africa Day 2 had the following results:

#7 Tea – 456 000

#8 Session 3 – 441 000

#9 Session 2 – 397 000

#13 Session 1 – 305 000

#14 Lunch – 295 000

Pre Game – 138 000

Seven’s Cricket: Big Bash League – Adelaide Strikers v Hobart was #11 with 343 000 viewers. There was 234 000 staying on for the post game coverage.

Nine

Nine News at 6:30 was #3 with wins in Sydney and Brisbane. Nine News was #4 with a win in Brisbane, but by just 1000 viewers. A Current Affair was #5, but #1 in its slot with 561 000. Great Getaways was #12 with 342 000. A repeat of Paramedics was #16 with 268 000. Police After Dark performed well given its day of the week and slot with 180 000 viewers. For some reason, Nine will now pull the series with 1 episode remaining in the season. Additionally, Nine skipped episode 3 in Sydney and Melbourne. Nine aired a special called Grounded at 10:30pm to an audience of 81 000. Pure Genius aired to 38 000 late night viewers.

With The Project off air this week, 10 aired a repeat of The Dog House Australia to 162 000, which is on par with what The Project does at 6:30pm. The movie, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was #22 with 210 000 viewers. The movie, The Bank Job had 63 000 viewers.

ABC

ABC News was #6 but sat behind A Current Affair in the rankings. A repeat of Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery continues to sit in the slot of 730 with 286 000 viewers. A repeat of You Can’t Ask That was watched by 184 000. A repeat of Grand Designs: House of the Year had 181 000. A repeat of the special, Palazzo di Cozzo was watched by 115 000.
