TOTAL TV
Seven News at 6:30 was #1 overall in the latest Total TV report with 1,417 000 viewers, a rise of 3%. Seven News was #2 and also up 3% with 1,397 000. These were the only two programs to attract more than one million viewers. Home and Away was #5 overall, but #1 non news for the night as the first two episodes averaged 911 000 viewers, up 23%. The 8pm episode titled Home and Away – Late was up 27% to 848 000. The Chase Australia continues to be an important news lead in with 749 000 viewers, up 3%. The 5pm half hour of The Chase Australia was on 441 000, up 4%. Kath and Kim repeats continue with the first episode on 416 000, up 10%, the second episode on 332 000, up 11% and the third episode on 293 000, up 13%. Seven News at 4 was up 2% to 252 000 and Seven News at 4:30,also up 2% was on 291 000. Sunrise was #18 overall with 387 000, up 5%.
Nine News 6:30 was #3 overall for the night with 969 000, up 4%, whilst Nine News was on 928 000, also up 4%. A Current Affair was second in the slot with 841 000, up 5%. RBT was on 563 000, up 7%. Paramedics increased on its lead in with 625 000 viewers, up 13%. Hot Seat had 456 000, up 4%, but remember that does not show the true strength of that 5:30pm half hour as Nine News airs in that slot in Adelaide and Perth. The Hot Seat figures for Adelaide and Perth are for screenings at 4:30pm and 3:30pm respectively. Hot Seat – 5pm was on 321 000, up 3%. Tipping Point increased its audience by 7% for 380 000. Nine’s Afternoon News had an uplift of 3% for 353 000 viewers. Today was up 7% to 308 000.
Love Island Australia just keeps giving for Nine. Thursday’s episode was up an incredible 745%. How high can this show go in uplifts?
The highest ranking show for 10 was The Project at 7pm with 368 000, up 3%. A repeat of Ambulance Australia at #23 had 342 000 viewers, up 4%.
ABC News was the best for the national broadcaster with 866 000 viewers, up 3% to land at #6 for the night. 730 was #10 with 735 000, up 5%. Foreign Correspondent was #12 and had an increase of 8% for 605 000. Q+A was up 6% to 371 000.
The Handmaid’s Tale on 519 000 and up 309% seems like a drop in the ocean compared to Love Island Australia.

Analysis
Seven News was #1 overall for the night with 795 000 viewers and wins in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Seven News lost Sydney by just 2000 viewers. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with 774 000 viewers with wins in the same markets. Home and Away was #9 with 397 000 viewers, which is an average for the first two episodes screened last night. The 8pm episode (Home and Away – Late) was on 371 000. The first episode of the quadruple Kath and Kim episodes had 227 000 viewers. The Kath and Kim episodes continued with episode 2 on 223 000, episode 3 on 183 000 and episode 4 on 173 000. The Latest: Seven News was on 124 000.
Nine News 6:30 had 632 000 and won Sydney. Nine News was on 629 000 and also won in Sydney. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 match between England and India had 479 000 across the network. The component that aired on 9Gem had 219 000.
The Project 6:30pm had 156 000 viewers, but that figure increased to 236 000 at 7pm. A repeat of Ambulance Australia was on 223 000. The Real Love Boat Australia had just 121 000. The final 2 episodes of this show air next week. An encore of The Cheap Seats had 69 000 viewers.
ABC News was #5 fir the night with 515 000 viewers. 730 was at #10 with 373 000. A repeat of You Can’t Ask That was on 218 000. David Speers hosted Q+A last night with 209 000 viewers. Kurt Fearnley’s One Plus One was watched by 117 000 viewers.
