Analysis for Total TV (10 December, 2022) and Overnight (17 December, 2022) ratings.

TOTAL TV – Total People

Seven News – Saturday was #1 with 974 000, a rise of 2%. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 3 Session 3 was #4 with 734 000 fans. Due to Seven not having BVOD rights for 7plus, there was no uplift in Total TV. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 3 Session 2 was #6 with 693 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 3 Tea was #8 with 650 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 3 Dinner was #10 with 596 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 3 Session 1 was #12 with 571 000. Weekend Sunrise – Saturday was #14 with 374 000, an upswing of 3%. Weekend Sunrise – Saturday Late was #14 with 312 000, a lift of 4%. Weekend Sunrise – Saturday Early was #19 with 293 000, a boost of 3%. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 3 Pre Game was #22 with 238 000. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 3 Session 2 Multi Channel was #26 with 200 000 viewers.

Nine News – Saturday was #5 with 723 000, growth of 4%. A Current Affair – Saturday was #11 with 572 000, strengthening its overnights by 5%. Christmas with Delta was #13 with 378 000, bolstering its audience by 10%. The movie, Love Actually was #16 with 352 000, an upsurge of 12%. Country House Hunters Australia was #17 with 314 000, an improvement of 4%. Weekend Today – Saturday was #25 with 205 000, expanding its audience by 6%. Nine News: First at Five was #27 with 191 000, an enhancement of 3%. Weekend Today – Saturday Late was #28 with 190 000, an uplift of 7%. Weekend Today – Saturday Early was #29 with 179 000, up 5%.

10 News First – Saturday was #21 with 257 000, a rise of 2%. Blue Bloods was #23 with 210 000, an upswing of 35%.

Doc Martin was #2 overall with 956 000, a lift of 36%. Shetland was #3 with 778 000, an increase of 44%. ABC News – Saturday was #7 with 652 000, a boost of 4%. A repeat of Midsomer Murders was #15 with 354 000, growth of 13%. A repeat of Vera was #24 with 208 000, up 15%. Another repeat of Midsomer Murders was #30 with 174 000, strengthening its overnights by 5%.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup Quarter Final: Netherlands v Argentina (Live) was #9 for SBS with 636 000, bolstering its audience by 56%. 2022 FIFA World Cup Quarter Final: Croatia v Brazil (Live) was #20 with 275 000, an upsurge of 139%.

TOTAL TV – 25-54

The 2022 FIFA World Cup Quarter Final: Netherlands v Argentina (Live) was #1 overall, beating the commercial news offerings with 339 000, an improvement of 77%. Seven’s Cricket: Second Test – Australia v West Indies Day 3 took positions #3, #4, #5, #6 and #7. Doc Martin had to settle for #11 in this demographic with 122 000, expanding its audience by 94%. Nine News – Saturday found itself at the rare position of #9.

OVERNIGHT RATINGS


Analysis

Seven News was #1 with a clean sweep win in all metro markets. Seven’s Cricket: First Test: Australia v West Indies Day 1 Session 3 was #2 with 558 000 fans. Seven’s Cricket: First Test: Australia v West Indies Day 1 Tea was #6 with 461 000. Seven’s Cricket: First Test: Australia v West Indies Day 1 Session 2 was #7 with 437 000. Seven’s Cricket: First Test: Australia v West Indies Day 1 Session 1 was #10 with 357 000. Seven’s Cricket: First Test: Australia v West Indies Day 1 Lunch was #11 with 340 000.

Nine News Saturday was #3 and did not record any wins in the 5 city metro markets. A Current Affair – Saturday was #8 with 412 000. 2022 FINA World Short Course Championships was #13 with 220 000.

Hungry could manage only 61 000 viewers for 10. The season final of Jamie’s One Pan Wonders had 87 000 viewers. The movie, Sherlock Holmes was on 88 000. The crime dramas have been rating higher, so with episodes still available, it was a wonder why 10 did not show fast tracked episodes of its US procedurals.

Doc Martin’s second last episode ever was #4 with 517 000. The final episode will air on Christmas night. Shetland was #9 with 393 000. A repeat of Midsomer Murders was #14 with 213 000 viewers.

A repeat of Air Crash Investigations improved the timeslot after Seven pulled new episodes of Ultimate Rides that had been underperforming. 9Gem aired its final Bond movie, Licence to Kill for 92 000. Nine is now ready for the Pierce Bronson era next week on 9Gem.
