ABC continues to have strong Saturday nights with UK dramas and their flagship news service.

#4 ABC News – Saturday – 774 000 – (+3%)

#7 Call the Midwife – 654 000 (+23%)

#9 Midsomer Murders (R) – 452 000 (+14%)

#15 Vera – 255 000 (+25%)

#20 Unforgotten – 227 000 (+14%)

#22 Midsomer Murders – 217 000 (+9%)

#25 Nigella’s Cook, Eat, Repeat (R) – 186 000 (+4%)

#26 ABC News at Noon – 181 000 (+3%)

#28 Weekend Breakfast – 178 000 (+5%)

SBS

World News and a special on the Costa Concordia pushed SBS into the top 30 line-up

#21 SBS World News – 219 000 (+3%)

#27 Costa Concordia: Why She Sank (R) – 180 000 (+7%)

TOTAL TV – 25-54

Seven had a massive night with 9 out of the top 11 programs, with only Nine and ABC News taking those 2 other positions. Interestingly on 10, that three repeats of The Big Bang Theory on 10 Peach actually outrated the primary channel line-up post 6pm.

OVERNIGHT RATINGS


Analysis

Seven

Seven News was #1 with wins in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. A repeat of Border Security: Australia’s Front Line was #5 overall, but #1 non news in primetime with 413 000 viewers. Considering it was a premiere, Seven would be disappointed that Dumbo had an audience of just 183 000. The repeat movie, A Long Kiss Goodnight had 117 000.

Nine

Nine News was #2 and had a win in Melbourne. A Current Affair – Saturday was #4 overall, but #2 in its slot with 415 000. The movie, Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous proved more popular than Dumbo with 208 000. The movie, Two Weeks Notice had 153 000 viewers.

Jamie Oliver: Together kicked off the night for 10 with 99 000 viewers. NCIS: Los Angeles continued with 98 000. FBI: International was on 96 000 but then a second new episode rose to 104 000.

ABC

ABC News was #3 overall, but #1 in its slot. Call the Midwife was popular with 373 000 at #6. A repeat of Midsomer Murders was #7 with 264 000.
