Analysis for Total TV (7 November, 2022) and Overnight (14 November, 2022) ratings.
TOTAL TV
Seven News at 6:30 was the #1 program overall last Monday with 1,378 000 viewers, up 3%. Seven News was #2 with 1,346 000, also up 3%. This is Your Life with the beautiful Rebecca Gibney cracked the million with 1,045 000, was up 13% and was #1 non news. Home and Away was up 19% to 919 000 and moved to be second in the slot behind ACA. 911 shot up 46% to 566 000 and was 200 000+ viewers in front of Under Investigation, which really solidifies the importance of Total TV results. The Chase Australia was #12 in the rankings with 773 000, up 3%. The Chase Australia – 5pm was on 476 000, up 3%. Sunrise was on 379 000, up 5%.
Nine News 6:30 was #3 overall and was up 4% to 1,105 00. Nine News was on 1,051 000, up 4%. A Current Affair had a particularly strong night and was up 5% to 1,073 000 viewers. The launch of My Mum Your Dad was somewhat soft in overnights but a rise of 38% put the episode out to 757 000, which is a great result for the new format. Under Investigation was down at #25 with 350 000, up 21%. Hot Seat had 526 000 viewers and was up 4%. Hot Seat 5pm (which is Hot Seat 4pm in Adelaide and Hot Seat 3pm in Perth) was on 333 000, up 4%. Nine’s Afternoon News (which is 4pm to 5pm on the East Coast but 5pm to 6pm in Adelaide and Perth) was on 321 000 viewers and increased by 3%. Tipping Point (which is 3pm in 4 markets but 4pm in Perth) had 381 000, up 8%/ Today was up 7% to 324 000, placing it 55 000 viewers behind Sunrise.
Love Island Australia is the Nine Network digital Queen with a 9GO overnight rating of just 27 000 viewers increasing by 828% to 334 000 viewers and landing it #26 for the night. It is amazing that a 200% increase would have been strong and now I wonder if it could crack 1000%. It shows that viewers are still engaged with Free to Air but how and when they watch it may be on their terms.
Have You Been Paying Attention’s season finale was #9 for the night with 10 for 878 000 viewers. The Traitors had 450 000 and was up 29%. The Project 7pm had 417 000 viewers and was up 4%. 10 News First had 358 000 and was up 2%. One of my favourite shows, Ghosts was up 18% to 354 000.
Australian Story was strong for the ABC placing it at #7 with 980 000, up 17%. ABC News had to settle for the second most popular program on the national broadcaster with 849 000, up 4%. The bridge between ABC News and Australian Story proved strong for 730 with 837 000 viewers, up 5%. Media Watch was #14 overall for the night with a strong 694 000, up 25%. Four Corners was #15 with 687 000, a rise of 13%. Planet America scraped in at #30 with 283 000, up 10%.

Nine News was #3 for the night with wins in Sydney and Melbourne. Nine News 6:30 had win in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. A Current Affair was #5 overall but #1 in its slot with 630 000 as we get closer to saying good bye to Tracy Grimshaw. My Mum Your Dad had 368 000, which might be considered a little soft by Nine’s standards but the show is resonating with BVOD and Total TV figures are strong so far. Under Investigation with Liz Hayes had 241 000 viewers followed by Suburban Gangsters repeat on 137 000. Nine News Late had 75 000 viewers.
The Project 6:30pm had 208 000 viewers. That figure increased for The Project 7pm which had 337 000. The launch of The Challenge Australia was on 257 000.
