Analysis for Total TV (14 November, 2022) and Overnight (21 November, 2022) ratings.
TOTAL TV
Seven News was #1 last Monday with 1,436 000, a rise of 3%. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 with 1,430 000, also a rise of 3%. This is Your Life, celebrating the life of music favourite Tina Arena was #5 overall but #1 non news with 944 000 viewers, a rise of 13%. Home and Away was #8 with 922 000, up 21%. It still sat #3 in its slot but the gap between the soap and #1 ACA was just 22 000 viewers. 911 placed #14 for the night with 595 000 and was up 52% and appears to have won its slot. The Chase Australia continues to do well at #10 for the night with 786 000, up 3%. The Chase Australia – 5pm had an audience of 472 000, which was an uplift of 3%. Seven News at 4 was on 288 000, up 2% and Seven News at 4:30 was up 3% to 314 000. Sunrise had 392 000 viewers for its breakfast audience, which was a rise of 5%.
Nine News was #3 for the night with 1,094 000, a rise of 4%. Nine News 6:30 was #4 with 1,088 000, also up 4%. A Current Affair was #6 for the night and despite only rising 5%, its strong overnight audience was enough to keep it #1 in the slot. My Mum Your Dad is strong in Total TV, increasing its audience last Monday to 680 000 and up a cool 35%. Under Investigation with Liz Hayes had an audience of 411 000, which was up 18%. That figure would seem lower than what Nine would have liked, however, its retention out of My Mum Your Dad is not too bad. If it had the same figure coming out of The Block then Nine would surely be rethinking the format. Hot Seat was #15 with 508 000, up 4% and Hot Seat – 5pm was on 314 000, also up 4%. Tipping Point was #23 with 388 000, up 6%. With those figures, surely Nine is thinking a local format? Nine’s Afternoon News was on 350 000, up 3%. Today had 330 000 fans from 7am, which is a rise of 7%.
Love Island Australia is the show that just keeps giving for Nine. It is drawing people to 9Now and is a digital king. Its overnight figure on 9GO was just 40 000, but that figure grew by 620% to be #25 overall for the whole day for an audience of 353 000 viewers.
I reserved judgment for The Challenge Australia, knowing its audience may be online. The show was #18 for the night with 463 000, a rise of 34%. For episode 1 and for 10, that should not be considered a success, nor should it be considered a disaster. The result probably sits somewhere in the middle, however, the positives are that it skews young, would be a magnet for advertisers, it is drawing people to 10 Play and its total audience is not that bad, considering it beat Under Investigation, albeit airing 90 minutes earlier. The Project 7pm had 462 000 viewers, a rise of 4%. 10 News First was #24 with 370 000, up 2%.
ABC News was #7 for the night, but #2 in its slot with 933 000 viewers, a rise of 4%. 730 was #11 with 778 000, up 6%. Australian Story actually built on its 730 lead in with 889 000 viewers, a rise of 20%. The season final of Four Corners was #16 for the night with 491 000, up 12%. Media Watch increased on that figure landing at #12 with 688 000, up 24%. Planet America was #21 with 409 000, up 11%.
