Seven News was #1 in the Total TV Top 30 rankings for last Friday with 1,188 000 viewers, a rise of 3%. Seven News at 6:30 was #2 and had an audience of 1,128 000, also up 3%. Better Homes and Gardens was at #9 with 615 000 viewers, an uplift of 6% and sat one position behind Gardening Australia in the rankings. The always reliable movie, Pretty Woman was the movie of choice with 425 000, a rise of 4% and sat at #13 for the evening. The Chase Australia has and continues to be an important lead in to Seven News and was #7 for the evening, outrating many shows in prime time with 679 000, up 3%. The Chase Australia – 5pm was #14 with 417 000 and had a rise of 3%. Sunrise was #1 at breakfast with 368 000, up 5% and was #17 overall. Sunrise – Early made the Top 30 at #27 with 252 000 viewers, up 5%. Seven News at 4:30 was #23 with 278 000 viewers, up 2% and appears to be sitting behind Nine’s Afternoon News, however Nine’s figures include Adelaide and Perth editions that air at 5pm, so the comparison is skewed. Seven News at 4 was #29 with 239 000 viewers and was up 2%.
Nine News 6:30 was #3 for the evening with 818 000 viewers and was up 4%, beating the first 30 minutes of the bulletin. Nine News was #4 with 788 000 and was also up 4%. A Current Affair was #5 overall, but was #1 in its slot with a healthy 717 000 viewers, a rise of 4%. Taronga Who’s Who in the Zoo was #12 for the night with 469 000 and was up 8%, sitting #3 in the slot behind Gardening Australia and Better Homes and Gardens. Hot Seat was #16 with 399 000, with a rise of 3%. Again, its important to point out that comparisons with The Chase Australia have to be treated with caution as the show airs across the 4pm hour in Adelaide and across the 3pm hour in Perth. Hot Seat – 5pm was #26 with 270 000 and a rise of 3%. Tipping Point always does well and was #18 with 356 000, up 9%. Nine’s Afternoon News was on 304 000, up 3%. Today was up 8% and had an audience of 281 000.
10 News First was best for the network at #19 with 325 000 viewers, up 2%. The Graham Norton Show landed at #21 and had 291 000 viewers and was up 19% and beat its lead in. That lead in was a repeat of The Living Room which was #25 with 271 000, up 3%. The Project 7pm was #24 for the night with 273 000, which was an increase of 5%. The Bold and the Beautiful placed #30 with 239 000 and was up 10%.
ABC News was best for the national broadcaster at #6 with 709 000 and was up 4%. Gardening Australia was #1 non news in primetime, #8 overall with 651 000, which was up 15%. All Creatures Great and Small was #10 with 604 000 viewers, a rise of 49%. Frankly was #11 for the night with an audience of 510 000, representing an 11% uplift. An encore of Fisk was #15 with 403 000, which was up a staggering 104%. ABC News Breakfast was up 5% to 251 000, but that figure is lower than its actual audience because it does not include those watching on ABC News.
