A graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Monika stepped into television as a cadet journalist with Channel 7 Perth in 1990. She quickly became a nightly fixture in WA’s media landscape, fronting Today Tonight for over 20 years — a rare feat of longevity in an ever-changing industry.
In 2019, she briefly joined 10 News First before moving to 9 News Perth in 2020, where she now anchors the 9 News Afternoon at 4 p.m.
With the bulletin gaining momentum and viewers in recent months, Monika remains at the forefront of local journalism, continuing to inform, connect, and engage her audience with her signature style.

Monika Kos
Monika Kos has been a familiar face to Perth viewers for more than three decades. She is born and bred in Western Australia and knows Perth intimately.
Her entry into broadcast news was at 6PR – where she held various roles including Drive presenter. In 1990 Monika began an almost 30-year career with the Seven Network, 22 of those as host of current affairs program Today Tonight. A move across to Network 10 saw Monika present Perth’s weekday news bulletin and she is one of WA’s most familiar faces.
Monika joined the Nine network from Monday, December 7, 2020 as the host of 9News Perth’s 5pm bulletin.
In 2024, Monika and the 9News team deliver a live one-hour, state-wide bulletin at 4.00pm bringing viewers up to date with the news and debates of the day with a mix of live reports and expert chats.
