Reckless hits screens in November with trailer now available – Explosive comic suspense series, Reckless, will premiere on SBS and NITV on 12 November, showcasing Perth and the port city of Fremantle, as well as an impressive bunch of Western Australian cast and crew.

Supported by Screenwest and the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive, the four-part SBS and NITV Original is a uniquely Australian take on crime and chaos where small-town secrets, family feuds and guilt make for unpredictable and exciting television.

Leading the talented cast is Western Australia’s own Tasma Walton (The Twelve, Mystery Road) and AACTA Award winner Hunter Page-Lochard (The Newsreader, Critical Incident) as two siblings try to cover up a hit-and-run in their hometown of Fremantle. As the lies pile up, so too do the consequences and everyone in town has something to lose.

The creative vision behind Reckless is led by First Nations Writer and Executive Producer Kodie Bedford (Return to Paradise, Mystery Road), who returned home to WA for production.

Directed by Beck Cole (Deadloch, High Country, Wentworth), the series is produced by Andy Walker (Deadloch, The Survivors) and Executive Produced by Kylie Washington (Ghosts Australia, The Office) and Kodie Bedford (Return to Paradise, Mystery Road). Co-Executive Producers are Megan Palinkas (Heartbreak High, The Heights) and Beck Cole with Fiona McConaghy (Bay of Fires S2, NCIS Sydney) serving as co-producer. Written by Kodie Bedford and Stuart Page (Total Control, Cleverman).

Screenwest Chief Executive Officer Rikki Lea Bestall said:

“Reckless is quintessentially Western Australian, not only showcasing our great locations, but incredible Western Australian cast and crew, including homegrown talents Kodie Bedford, Tasma Walton and Jessica De Gouw. Screenwest has been proud to support this cutting-edge First Nations project, which has injected more than $5 million into the WA economy and created 250 jobs for local screen practitioners.”

Shot entirely on-location in Perth and Fremantle, the series has been made possible by State Government investment through the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive.

Local Western Australian crew include Co-Executive Producer and Script Producer Megan Palinkas, Associate Producer Devina McPherson, Production Manager Vikki Barr, 1st Assistant Director John Fairhead, Production Designer Emma Fletcher, Art Director Susie Opie, Costume Supervisor Sarah Jameson and Hair and Make-up Supervisor Karen Sims.

Walton and Page-Lochard are joined by a standout Western Australian cast featuring Jessica De Gouw (The Couple Next Door, The Survivors), Clarence Ryan (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Mystery Road: Origin), Kelton Pell (Mystery Road: Origin, Redfern Now), Peter Rowsthorn (Kath and Kim, Three Summers), Paul Tassone (The Twelve, Pokerface) and Steve Le Marquand (The Twelve, Mystery Road: Origin).

They join Jane Harber (Offspring, Limbo) and Tracy Mann (The Twelve, Top End Bub) as well as Duncan Fellows (Deadloch, The Letdown), Perry Mooney (Population:11, Gold Diggers), Matthew Dyktynski (Japanese Story, Offspring), and newcomer Maddie Young.

Reckless is an adaptation of BBC’s Scottish mystery thriller TV series Guilt, written by Neil Forsyth. The Australian adaptation will premiere on NITV, SBS and SBS On Demand at 8.30pm on 12 November.

Production credit: Reckless is a BBC Studios Productions Australia production for SBS. Major production investment from Screenwest and the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive, Screen Australia’s First Nations Department and SBS, in association with Screen NSW. International sales by Federation Studios. Post, digital and visual effects supported by Screen NSW.
