Aussie Gold Hunters celebrates ten seasons and counting – Season 10 of Aussie Gold Hunters is set to hit Australian screens on Discovery on Thursday, 8 January 2026, and production of Season 11 is underway.

Screenwest is pleased to announce Season 10 of hit series Aussie Gold Hunters from Western Australian production company Electric Pictures, is set to hit Australian screens on Discovery on Thursday, 8 January 2026, and production of Season 11 is underway.

As gold prices soar, Aussie Gold Hunters returns yet again—pushing veteran prospectors and fearless newcomers to take on Australia’s most extreme environments in a gruelling search for the world’s most precious metal: gold.

The highly successful factual series has been broadcast in more than 130 countries and is one of Warner Bros. Discovery’s highest rating Australian commissions.

The new season promises more excitement and gold-hunting adventures as prospectors and small-scale gold miners continue their quest for gold in some of the most extreme wilderness of Australia.

Featured regions include the Pilbara, Goldfields-Esperance and Mid-West, with filming taking place near Cue, Kalgoorlie, Leonora, Newman, Esperance and Geraldton.

Ahead of the Season 10 premiere, Warner Bros. Discovery UK, Australia and New Zealand has commissioned Season 11.

For the first time, the Seven Network in Australia has also come on board as a commissioning partner, with seasons of Aussie Gold Hunters available on their #1 rating multichannel 7mate and streaming platform 7plus, capturing a brand new free-to-air audience for the series.

“We are thrilled to bring audiences yet another season of this much-loved show,”

– said Chrissie Carras, Director, Content – ANZ Networks for Warner Bros. Discovery.

“In addition to showcasing our unique backyard alongside this fascinating profession, it’s the quintessential Aussie characters who draw in audiences across Australia and the world. We can’t wait for fans to catch up with our Gold Hunters and introduce them to a few new faces as well.”

Altogether, the Aussie Gold Hunters franchise – comprising ten seasons, a three-part special, and the spin-off series Aussie Gold Hunters: Mine SOS – has resulted in 173 commercial hours of television; close to 500 jobs for WA crews; an estimated 40 million global viewers, and over $50 million of production expenditure in Western Australia. “Aussie Gold Hunters is largely filmed in Western Australia, which has become the heart and soul of the show. Western Australia’s epic scenery, vast blue skies, and frontier energy have become central to that appeal. Combine that with the fact that Australia is one of the world’s major gold producers, and you have the perfect mix of drama, scale, and authenticity,”

– said Andrew Ogilvie, Electric Pictures CEO.

“Ten seasons and counting! Aussie Gold Hunters and the Electric Pictures team are unstoppable. The series is a juggernaut which has provided long periods of stable employment for many Western Australian screen practitioners as well as great training and career advancement opportunities. We’ve loved seeing a WA-made series that showcases Western Australian places, stories and people find such a massive audience nationally and internationally,”

– said Rikki Lea Bestall, Screenwest CEO.

The continued success of Aussie Gold Hunters has also greatly assisted the careers of many crew in Western Australia.

Local filmmaker, Terry Taplin, has risen through the ranks across the series, starting out as an Assistant Editor on Season 2, and progressing to Series Producer on Season 11, currently underway.

“My journey is just one example of how Aussie Gold Hunters has helped sustain the Western Australian screen workforce. Over many seasons I’ve worked across a wide range of roles: starting in post-production, moving through story producing, and then out into the field directing and shooting on location. This combination of acquired skills and experience led to more senior responsibilities, and eventually to Series Producer”

– said Terry Taplin, Series Producer, Aussie Gold Hunters – Season 11.

Aussie Gold Hunters Season 10 premieres in Australia on Discovery, HBO Max and Binge on Thursday, 8 January at 7.30pm AEDT.

Production credit: Aussie Gold Hunters Season 10 is an Electric Pictures production for Warner Bros. Discovery UK, Australia and New Zealand and is supported by Screenwest and Lotterywest.
