Russell Crowe and Robbie Williams for the 2025 AACTA Awards – The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) is thrilled to announce Russell Crowe as the host of the 2025 AACTA Awards Ceremony presented by Foxtel Group.

The event will take place on Friday, 7 February, at the HOTA, Home of the Arts on the Gold Coast. Crowe will also have the honour of presenting the inaugural AACTA Award for Outstanding Contribution to the iconic music legend Paul Kelly. Kelly’s music has given depth to many productions over the past four decades and has become a key part of Australian screen culture. From Dumb Things in Young Einstein (1988) through to scoring Jindabyne and Lantana and the film adaptation of his hit song How to Make Gravy (2024), Kelly’s contribution to screen has had a lasting impact.

“When music and pictures join up in just the right way they both get better. It’s been an honour to be part of that dance.”

– said Paul Kelly.

Following the success of the BINGE Original Film, How to Make Gravy Kelly will perform his song of the same name on stage during the AACTA Ceremony. From one music legend to another, British sensation Robbie Williams will also take to the AACTA stage to perform his chart-topping hit, Angels.

Robbie Williams expressed his excitement

“I’m incredibly honoured to be attending and performing at the AACTA Awards on the Gold Coast next month. The Better Man movie is something I’m extremely proud of. For this movie to be embraced by the AACTA membership, with a record-breaking 16 AACTA Award nominations, is a very special moment for me. I can’t wait to celebrate with everyone down under soon—it’s going to be an unforgettable night!”

Joining this star-studded event will be an impressive lineup of presenters, including Henry Cavill, Kitty Flanagan, Aaron Chen, Sophie Monk, Sam Pang, Kate Mulvany, Guy Pearce, Anne Edmonds, Aisha Dee, Alycia Debnam-Carey, David Wenham, Asher Keddie, Teresa Palmer, Stephen Curry, Ed Kavalee, Lisa McCune, Tom Gleeson, Catherine Laga’aia, Shane Jacobson, Catherine Martin, Guy Montgomery, Mel Tracina, Tim McDonald, Richard Wilkins, Leah Purcell, and Dr George Miller.

The 2025 AACTA Awards Ceremony will be broadcast in Australia on Channel Ten at 7.30pm AEDT, Friday 7 February.

A special extended AACTA Awards broadcast, including all awards from the ceremony, will be available from 7:30pm on Saturday 8 February on BINGE and Foxtel (Famous and available On-Demand). International broadcast details to be announced soon.

Stephen Curry has been announced as the host of the AACTA Awards Industry Gala presented by Foxtel Group, which will take place on Wednesday, 5 February, also at HOTA. Curry will be joined by an impressive lineup of presenters, including Talijah Blackman-Corowa, Dane Simpson, Joel Jackson, Carlos Sanson Jr., Chris Alosio, Shane and Clayton Jacobson, Marc Fennell, Nicole Da Silva, Nina Oyama, and Lachlan and Jaxon Fairbairn. Both events will shine a spotlight on the extraordinary achievements of Australian screen talent.

Catch some of the AACTA Awards presenters at AACTA Festival including an in conversation with Leigh Whannell, from Saw to Wolf Man, Shane Jacobson reveals exactly what it takes to make a hit film in Filmmaking 101, Teresa Palmer shows a sneak peak of her latest series, The Last Anniversary, Dr. George Miller joins an exclusive in conversation event with Danny and Michael Phillipou (Talk to Me), Ed Kavalee hosts a rare panel discussion with the incredible Working Dog team(Santo Cilauro, Tom Gleisner, Jane Kennedy, Rob Sitch and Michael Hirsh).

AACTA Festival will shine a further spotlight on the incredible performers with two unmissable events; join host Richard Wilkins for an evening on the HOTA Outdoor stage, celebrating the BINGE Original Film, How to Make Gravy featuring Meg Washington, Brendan Maclean and Paul Kelly.

Australian director Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) will unpack his latest project, the Robbie Williams biopic Better Man. Tickets are available now at aactafestival.com.

The 2025 AACTA Awards ceremonies will form part of AACTA Festival which will run for 5 days from February 5 – 9th offering a vast range of activities celebrating film, television, and pop culture. Festival goers can enjoy in-depth movie deconstructions, interactive workshops, meet-and-greets, music showcases, masterclasses with renowned filmmakers, outdoor screenings, and a variety of family-friendly activities – and for those looking to break into the industry, an expanded Screen Careers Expo presented by Essential Screen Skills will also make its return on Saturday the 8th of February. Tickets are on sale now for AACTA Festival and the AACTA Awards Ceremonies including Live! by the Lake. For more information and to secure your seat at one of the most anticipated events in the entertainment calendar, visit aactafestival.com.

AACTA CEO Damian Trewhella said

“The AACTA Awards are set to be a massive celebration of Australian film & television.  There is so much talent in this country, Russell Crowe as a marvellous host, so many fine achievements to salute and music is such a big feature this year – remarkably including two big films and performances, Robbie Williams performs “Angels” from the movie about his life “Better Man” and Paul Kelly performs “How to Make Gravy”, his song that inspired at the movie of the same name.”

Whether you are a film fan, a budding creative, a pop culture enthusiast, or a dedicated industry professional, AACTA Festival offers a unique opportunity to network, learn, and revel in the magic of film and television.
