WIN News brings largest Convoy in Southern Hemisphere to Viewers

WIN News brings largest Convoy in Southern Hemisphere to Viewers – The largest convoy in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the biggest single fundraising days in regional Australia will again hit the road this Sunday 19th November when i98FM Illawarra Convoy hits the road. WIN News will keep viewers across it all with updates on-air during the day and live via Facebook.

In 2022, the i98FM Illawarra Convoy eclipsed $22 million dollars raised since it’s inception in 2005. This year, Illawarra Convoy is back for its 19-year anniversary, for what organisers are hoping to be the biggest event yet.

This year, the lead bike is again Coles and the lead truck is again Menai Haulage. Menai Haulage donated a staggering $300,001 making this the second year in a row that they will lead the Convoy with young Nate Deushain, who is currently battling Leukaemia.

Coles, for the third straight year, topped the Lead Motorbike bids with a massive $252,000 raised.

An anticipated record number of trucks and motorbikes will depart under Police escort from the South 32 Illawarra Coal’s West Cliff Colliery on Appin Rd at 8am and follow a route that will take them down Mt Ousley through Warrawong and past Stockland Shellharbour, through Albion Park Rail, then into the Shellharbour Airport for the free Family Fun Day.

The free Family Fun Day will include performances by Ricki-Lee and Thirsty Merc, world class FMX motocross displays, junkyard stunt shows, kids rides, helicopter joy flights, motor vehicle static displays, over 60 food and market stalls and, of course, the arrival of the truck and motorbike Convoy.

WIN News updates across its southern NSW network will capture the action as the Convoy makes it way through the Illawarra and share it with viewers.

The airtimes will be between:

  • 10:00 -10:30am – coming down Mt Ousley, Wollongong
  • 11:00- 11:30am – winding through Windang, Wollongong
  • 2:00-2:30pm – at the Family Fun Day at Shellharbour

With trucks from interstate joining the Convoy, WIN News Facebook pages across the network will be live streaming all the excitement to supporters in other states throughout the day.

WIN News will have a wrap up of the event on Monday 20th November at 5.30pm on WIN.
