Van der Valk on ABC and ABC iview S4E3 – When a scientist researching a potential breakthrough in the treatment of cancer is found dead, seemingly assassinated by a professional killer, Van Der Valk and team have to discover why he was killed, why his former mentor was also targeted, and what the possible link is to elusive pharmaceuticals billionaire, Freddie Klink.
Realising that the research scientist has cryptically hidden his breakthrough discovery, buried deep in the images of a short film, the team have to figure out where and how to crack the key for the code in order to unlock it. It’s a task made all the more difficult because Van Der Valk and the team are not the only ones in search of the secret and as a result have to field the murderous efforts of other parties, equally interested in getting their hands on the potentially life-changing discovery.
Is Klink the mastermind behind trying to control any discoveries? Is he possibly even trying to stop a medical breakthrough ever seeing the light of day? Or is there another reason altogether for the killings?
But equally, how might unlocking the secret also provide the key for Van Der Valk to convince Hendrik to finally confront his mortality?
