The Mayfair Hotel Megabuild on SBS – Claridge’s Hotel – icon of old school glamour and favourite of celebrities and royalty – is undergoing its biggest transformation of modern times.
Filmed over six years, this documentary series follows the incredible engineering challenges involved in digging out a five storey mega-basement, adding four new floors to the top of the hotel, and creating what’s likely to be London’s most expensive penthouse.

With the megabuild shell nearing completion, some of the world’s top designers are brought in to oversee the final and most important touches.
Remi Tessier, renowned Parisian interior designer, takes on the penthouse. Only the highest standards and rarest materials will do for the rumoured 100,000-pounds-a-night price tag. In the basement, Inge Theron is combining scents from Japan with the latest skincare tech to create Claridge’s first spa.
But the noise from nearby underground lines and an unprecedented flood threaten to jeopardise her venture before David Walliams has the opportunity to take the inaugural dip in the hotel’s first ever pool.
