Michael Portillo continues his coastal railway journey from Middlesbrough to Grimsby today in the pretty seaside resort of Hornsea, famous for its distinctive pottery. Michael searches out some of the most recognisable and collectible pieces and hears how they were designed and made in the town.
Episode Ten: Grimsby
Michael Portillo has reached Lincolnshire, where his coastal railway journey from Middlesbrough will end. In Grimsby Town, which in the 20th century was the biggest fishing port in the world, he investigates an important new stage in the town’s history. Grimsby is the maintenance base for some of the largest wind farms in the world, located just off the Lincolnshire coast in the North Sea.
