Better on ABC and ABC iview S1E2 – In 2004, Lou meets Col as a junior officer in the police. In the present, Lou reminds Col of their equal partnership and how she intends to do what she can to ensure Col’s organisation remains untouchable.
Col accepts this and sends Lou on her way, but Bulgey isn’t pleased. Bulgey and Artem pay Jade Wilkes a visit to determine whether she revealed the whereabouts of Noel’s safehouse.
Meanwhile, Lou tries to get a hold of Jade but is only able to get her voicemail. Col and his crew discuss the possibility that Lou is working against him, and it’s suggested they test her loyalty.
At home, Lou broaches the idea of quitting her job, which would mean relying on Ceri’s construction business for money; Ceri figures they can manage, and they begin to work out what that might look like. Sandy is disappointed to hear Lou wants to quit the force as she hoped to set up a taskforce to go after Col.
When Owen returns home from the hospital, they all face the difficulty of the new normal.
Lou tracks down an old colleague of her father, a former detective who was dismissed from the force in the early 90s after confessing to being on the take, and has spent his days ever since alone in squalor; Lou is curious to understand his reason for confessing all those years ago, but realises he only did it to avoid a harsher punishment.
Owen attends his first support group session where he forms an instant connection with Donal, who has been sent there by Col, and introduces himself under a fake name.
