About the Event
Get ready for the ultimate Aussie duel in the pool when the 2024 Australian Swimming Trials are exclusive, live and free on Channel 9 and 9Now from Monday, June 10, at 7.30pm AEST.
Serving as the official selection trials for our Olympic and Paralympic Games swimming squads, one high-octane week of competition will take place as athletes look to book their tickets to Paris.
Ariarne Titmus, Emma McKeon, Kaylee McKeown, Kyle Chalmers, Mollie O’Callaghan, Elijah Winnington, Sam Short, Zac Stubblety-Cook, plus Paralympic gold medallists Rowan Crothers, Brenden Hall and Lakeisa Patterson, will all get their Paris campaigns underway.
In commentary for Nine’s Wide World of Sports will be experts Ian Thorpe, Giaan Rooney and Ellie Cole, alongside host James Bracey, race callers Mat Thompson and Brenton Speed, and Roz Kelly poolside.
Olympic gold medallist Giaan Rooney said:
“Every Australian swimmer wants to call themselves an Olympian, but to get there first you have to make it through one of the most competitive events in the world.
“The intensity and level of competition at the Trials is going to be very high, with the depth of quality meaning Australia could field at least three to four representatives in an Olympic final, but only two will get that opportunity.
“Our team for Paris 2024 is going to be one of the most impressive Australian Dolphins Swimming teams in history, with a great contrast between the leadership and experience of Emma McKeon, Kayle McKeown, Ariane Titmus and Kyle Chalmers mixed with emerging superstars snapping at their heels, such as Mollie O’Callagan and Sam Short.
“With the raw emotion and intensity on display, combined with the relief of making the team, this will be compelling theatre. Get ready for the ultimate showcase of Aussie swimming talent.”
In a change of pace, the Celebrity Relay Race will take over on Wednesday, June 12, when Karl Stefanovic, Michelle Payne, Johnathan Thurston, Sylvia Jeffreys, Millie Boyle, husband and wife duo Owen Wright and Kita Alexander, and many more feature in a colourful cast of personalities, mixed with swimming legends Susie O’Neill, Duncan Armstrong and Mack Horton.
Friday’s coverage includes the official naming of the Australian Paralympic swimming team, while Saturday’s broadcast culminates in the naming of the Australian Olympic swimming team for Paris 2024.
