Review | The Dog House Australia on 10 and 10 Play – The Dog House Australia continues to be one of the most heartwarming and emotionally engaging shows on television.
While the series is all about connecting abandoned dogs with their forever families, it’s the backstories of the potential owners that make this show truly special. Their journeys are just as intriguing—often deeply emotional—as the moments they share with their new furry companions.
Take 21-year-old Lizzie, for example. Diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at just six weeks old, she was told she wouldn’t live past 20. Thanks to an early trial drug, her life has been transformed, and now, full of life and energy, she’s searching for a dog to join her on new adventures. The connection between humans and animals is reaffirmed in every episode, reminding us of the incredible bond that can form between them.
Of course, the dogs and puppies steal the show with their irresistible cuteness, and those first meetings between them and their potential owners are nothing short of magical.
But the reality of adoption is also laid bare—it’s understandable, yet heartbreaking, when a dog is too nervous or too traumatized to form an instant connection. These moments highlight the patience and love needed to build trust, making it all the more rewarding when a bond finally blossoms.
As the series enters its fifth season, The Dog House Australia continues to capture those life-changing moments when both humans and dogs find what they’ve been searching for—companionship, healing, and a second chance. With 12 episodes featuring over 75 incredible dogs, the stakes are higher, the stories more moving, and the reunions more joyful than ever. Whether you’re a dog lover or just someone who appreciates heartwarming television, this show is a must-watch. Because sometimes, the perfect match really is just a pawshake away.

Episode 1
Lizzie’s New Adventure
21-year-old Lizzie has spent much of her life in and out of hospitals after being diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis as a baby. Told she wouldn’t live past 20, her world changed when she gained early access to a groundbreaking trial drug. Now healthy and full of life, she’s ready for a new chapter—one that includes a four-legged companion. With her parents, Jo and Tony, by her side, Lizzie arrives at AWL hoping to find an energetic pup to join her on adventures while also being a relaxed companion for her parents. The matchmakers introduce her to Thistle, a timid three-month-old Kelpie cross. But with Thistle too nervous to come out of his shell, Lizzie starts to wonder—can this shy pup grow into her perfect adventure buddy?
Choosing Between Two Siblings
Ana and Anthony are celebrating nine years together and are ready to take their first steps toward starting a family—by adopting a dog. Anthony, a retired Air Force officer, knows firsthand the positive impact a dog can have on mental health, and now they’re looking for that same companionship. The AWL matchmakers are torn between two littermates, Commando and Alexis, so they introduce both dogs to the couple. While Anthony immediately connects with Commando, Ana is smitten with Alexis. With both puppies vying for a spot in their home, which sibling will steal their hearts?
From Cat Lovers to Dog Owners?
Identical twins Jo and Kimi are best friends and self-proclaimed cat lovers—but they’re ready to shake things up by bringing a dog into their lives. Jo, who has recently moved back home after the end of a 25-year relationship, is rediscovering herself and all the things she once put on hold, including owning a dog. Meanwhile, Kimi just wants to make sure the new pup can get along with her cat. Enter Hanzo, a Beagle X who seems like the perfect match. Jo is instantly taken with him, but Kimi doesn’t feel the same spark. Will Hanzo win them both over, or will they stick to their feline ways?
With another season of heartfelt stories, The Dog House Australia proves once again why it’s such a beloved series. Get ready for love, laughter, and maybe a few tears—because every pawshake is just the beginning of something beautiful.
