The BBC is known for its bold British productions and since BBC Studios launched its production arm in Australia in 2018 there have been a plethora of Australian productions, with their current hits including Dancing With The Stars: All Stars, Mastermind, and The Great Australian Bake Off, alongside original local formats Space 22 and The Matchmakers.

Ralph Lee, CEO of Studios Productions has overall responsibility for BBC Studios Productions globally. Ralph has over 25 years of experience in the UK’s TV sector and is always on the hunt for innovative, engaging, and unique commissioning opportunities.

SCREEN FOREVER 37 delegates will have the enviable opportunity to hear from Ralph In Conversation as he discusses the big picture view across BBC Studios Production and what it takes to achieve global success.

Ralph will take to the stage with Brian Walsh, Executive Director at Foxtel Group and one of Australia’s most distinguished leaders in the television industry, to discuss how BBC Studios has transformed by bringing production and distribution together into one commercial powerhouse, his view on the importance of Australian stories and creative talent in the global marketplace and the ways in which the company is working in Australia.

Caroline Stone, Commercial Director, Scripted, BBC Studios will also be in attendance to give invaluable insight into how BBC Studios and their portfolio of producers develop programming with global appeal.

In a recent interview, Caroline flagged that she would love to have more co-production conversations within the Australian market.

Delegates will have the chance to hear direct from Caroline about what a successful co-production looks like and how she and the BBC Studios team go about sourcing and securing these productions.

Another important member of the BBC family who will attend is Anna Taganov, the BBC’s Head of Children’s Content and Programming Strategy. Anna works directly for the public broadcasting arm of the BBC and has an innate understanding of what it takes to create and deliver high-performing children’s TV linear, and VOD offers.

Anna headed up Content & Programming Strategies for Disney channels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa and spent 13 years working on the pan-regional Disney Junior channel launch and helped to grow a multitude of Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilm franchises.

Delegates will have the chance to hear about what Anna finds exciting in the world of children’s content right now, and what opportunities she sees for Australian children’s producers as the demand for media and on-demand content becomes more and more sought after by young audiences.

Anna will also be participating in SPA Connect Market, meeting with producers during Ready, Steady, Pitch! and Industry Roundtables creating opportunities for local businesses to pitch their projects.
