Wilderness With Simon Reeve on SBS and SBS on Demand S1E1 – On his toughest journeys yet, Simon Reeve travels through some of the most remote landscapes on Earth, in search of the people and the wildlife of earth’s greatest wildernesses.
Beginning in the great rainforests of Congo, he then traverses the rugged landscape of Patagonia, the tropical seas of the Coral Triangle, and the harsh but bountiful Kalahari.
Episode One:
Simon travels through the Congo, the second greatest rainforest on earth. He travels five hundred miles across dense tropical jungle, heading for the region of Salonga, where he searches for one of the rarest and most iconic creatures on the continent.
Simon begins his journey in the northwest of the Congo basin, where his first encounter with the great forest reveals just how tough it is to travel through impenetrable thickets, biting insects and peat bogs. Simon battles onwards, and has an emotional encounter with a group of wild Bonobos deep in the forest.
