The Cook Up with Adam Liaw on SBS – The Cook Up with Adam Liaw, SBS’s most commissioned series, is back with an exciting new season serving up more culinary icons and celebrity friends joining Adam in the kitchen, celebrating First Nations cooking expertise in a very special NAIDOC Week edition, weekly tips to become the ‘host with the most’ and more.

The new series will premiere on Monday July 3 on SBS On Demand and 7pm weeknights on SBS Food.

A delightful half hour of cooking and entertainment with a side of laughs, The Cook Up reaches 500 episodes this series, an incredible milestone in just two years, with all previous seasons of the series available to stream now on SBS On Demand.

Every weekday, two foodie friends join host, Adam Liaw. Chefs, comedians, authors, journalists, singers, actors, sports personalities and everything in between: if they love food and a chat, Adam welcomes them into The Cook Up kitchen. This series sees more famous faces in the world of food and entertainment at the benchtop.

Guests include culinary stars such as Asma Khan, Tony Tan, Alison Roman, Matt Stone, Khanh Ong, Lucy Tweed, Lara Lee  and Andy Hearnden, as well as Australian legends in the world of sports, entertainment, art and social media such as Paralympic athlete Isis Holt, Nina Oyama, Brihony Dawson, SBS’ Alone Australia winner Gina Chick, Michelle Law, Osher Günsberg, Gail Mabo, Esther Song, Adam Spencer and Daen Lia.

We also see Adam cook alongside some of Australia’s finest established and upcoming chefs and have fascinating discussions with the most interesting journalists and personalities from all around the country.

Of course, just like in any good kitchen, some old friends have been welcomed back to carry on the cooking and conversation, such as Luke Powell, Linda Marigliano, Tom Walton and Bjorn Stewart.

This season of The Cook Up will kick off with a week-long celebration for NAIDOC Week and for the first time will have a guest host, Nornie Bero of Melbourne’s Mabu Mabu, taking over the reins from Adam for the week. Guests Gail Mabo, Arabella Douglas, Bjorn Stewart, Damian Coulthard, Kristy Dickinson, Jody Orcher, Rowdie Walden, Kirsten Banks, Matty Mills and Christian Hampson will cook delicious food and share stories with Nornie. Nornie will host The Cook Up for NAIDOC week from Monday July 3.

Fridays on The Cook Up will be all about making entertaining at home simple with ‘Easy Entertaining’. The ultimate food and friends half hour to inspire viewers in their own kitchens, every Friday Adam demonstrates how to be ‘hosts with the most’ at home, with guests including event stylist to the stars, Lucy Tweed, Adam Spencer, Nina Oyama and many more.

Presenter, Adam Liaw, says

“The public response to The Cook Up has truly been extraordinary. Everywhere I go people tell me that it’s part of their nightly routine. I see people cooking recipes from the show and tagging me on social media daily, people sending their questions in for us to answer on air, and so many parents who tell us their kids watch the show and learn to cook every single night.

In Season 5 we’re back with some of the biggest global stars in food, but our focus is always local. We’ve got great ideas for everyday cooking, but we’ll also show you how to throw a great Friday night dinner party, and the food truly reflects how we all cook in Australia. Everything we cook on The Cook Up is real food that really makes sense to Australians. SBS’ continued support for The Cook Up has been incredible, and with Season 5 taking us over 500 episodes we’re officially the largest ever commissioned program in SBS history.”

Emily Griggs, SBS Head of Food, says

“There’s nothing better than getting together with friends over great food and The Cook Up invites you to do that every episode.  This season SBS and The Cook Up team celebrated an extraordinary milestone of 500 episodes. It continues to bring a feast of menu ideas from nibbles through to desserts.   Easy Entertaining on Friday nights will provide the ultimate guide to stress-free entertaining, whether you’re hosting a brunch, going on a picnic, hosting a Chinese dinner or celebrating Diwali, Adam’s got you covered.”

An internal SBS production, The Cook Up will be available to stream on SBS On Demand with subtitling available in both Arabic and Simplified Chinese afterwards.

The Cook Up with Adam Liaw will premiere weekdays on SBS On Demand from Monday July 3 and at 7pm weeknights on SBS Food. All episodes from previous series of The Cook Up are available to stream on SBS On Demand.
