Ever wondered where your empty plastic milk bottles end up? Well Joh has, and while visiting a local café she meets Marnie Dingwall, whose business closes the loop on plastic recycling. While touring their factory, Joh learns how Marnie and her team at Defy Design take milk bottles from a café and turn them into cutting boards or shampoo bottles are turned into combs for a hairdresser. So, next time you buy a coffee from your local café, you won’t just ease those caffeine cravings, but you might just help reduce plastic waste and help the environment too!

CHARLIE – HANGING GARDEN

If space is at a premium at your place, but you still want a garden of your own, then you might want to look up. Tonight, Charlie’s going to show you how to create a hanging garden with just a single sheet of plywood and a few simple tools. You don’t need to be a DIY expert, even Charlie made a decent job of this one. Flowers, herbs, small fruit or ferns are great options to plant, but whatever you use, with Charlie’s planter box you’ll soon have a hanging garden to rival Babylon.

MELISSA – HOW IS IT GROWN?

Studies have shown that too many Aussie kids don’t know how fruit and veg are grown, they couldn’t identify common varieties and a large percentage of kids have never even visited a farm with plants and crops. Melissa’s on a mission to change this, by teaching kids important agricultural info. Visiting a carrot farm on the scenic north coast of Tasmania, she shows you the process the humble carrot takes from seed all the way to being packed and onto your plate.

JULIET – COLLAGE OF DIVINE COMPOSITION

Have you ever looked at an artwork that just really caught your eye? Well, it probably used the golden ratio, in its composition. This ratio occurs organically in nature, in things like tornadoes, plants and even in the human body. Because of this, architects, designers and artists have used it in their work throughout history and now Juliet will show you how to make it work for you, with your own 3D collage artwork for your wall. Who knew art could teach you a fun way to learn geometry and aesthetics at the same time!

DR HARRY – CAMEL DAIRY

Camels may not be the animal you think of when you think of dairy, but that’s about to change. Dr Harry ventures to a camel farm in Queensland to meet a family pioneering the milking of camels for pasteurized milk and all sorts of dairy products. With many benefits over traditional cow’s milk, this farm also produces yoghurt, cheese, chocolate and even a range of skincare products. Dr Harry learns all about this emotional and affectionate animal and with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, he might just get a cuddle too.
