Postcards on Channel 9 – Join the Postcards team this week as Travel Guides favourites Kevin and Janetta give viewers a tour of their local town, Sunday at 5.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Kevin and Janetta show viewers around their hometown of Maldon (Dja Dja Wurrung Country). Starting on Main Street, they head into Maldon Bakery for a pastry before shopping at Portia & Co and chatting to owner Rebecca Haack. They end their tour of Maldon at the quirky Blue Cockatoo Bar which is accessible through the fish and chip shop!
Lauren Phillips is checking out local gems in Altona (Boonwurrung Country). She takes a stroll down Altona Pier, which has recently had a 11.9 million dollar makeover.
She then heads to the hustle and bustle on Pier street, stopping by Matteo’s Delicatessen before catching up with Sandra White, owner of Yo Mama Frozen Yoghurt & Acai. A short drive down the road in Altona North, Lauren tries fresh Japanese fare at local favourite, Teru Japanese Eatery.Â
Meanwhile, Kris Smith is in Preston (Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country). First up, he checks out Tyler’s Milk Bar, an old-school retro milk bar-turned-cafe owned by a pair of sisters that love making everything off their menu in house and from scratch.
Next is the non-traditional meat eatery, Dexter, for an appointment with owner Sam Peasnell to talk all things meat, specifically their viral take on a savoury donut. Kris rounds off his day with a game at the 600-patron bowling bar, The Keys.Â
And Shane Delia flies south to Hobart (Nuenonne Country) for some fresh air and a relaxing getaway. He checks into Vibe Hotel Hobart, the 15-storey high hotel that sits in the heart of Hobart on Argyle Street. He then takes a walk down to the iconic waterfront, ordering a fresh seafood skewer from the fish punt Flippers Cooked Seafood before visiting the oldest pub in Australia, the Hope and Anchor Hotel, for a chat with owner John Kelly about its long history. Shane then returns to the Vibe’s Belvedere Restaurant for a decadent oyster happy hour.Â
